“I myself, would like a Thompson/Hunter ticket.”

Ditto that. A great ticket.

Ron Paul anchored his position as village idiot...

The name "Barney Fife" kept popping into my mind as I watched him last night...

He’s getting better, that’s surely the consensus, and I agree.

He’s still not an “A.” Say what you will about Giuliani, but he’s the best “debate competition” debater and probably will never be bested in that particular part of campaigning. Too much experience at it from his prosecutor days (and he was probably talented at it before then).

But Fred doesn’t need to be an “A” to win.

Good news.

Fred may have a good enough organization to listen to the feedback from the voters and adapt accordingly.

That's what Fred did running for senate. I expected him to start slow and keep getting better and better. So far, so good.

He did pretty well, save for one floundering answer on education.

He is old, like many other presidents. I am thinking of Eisenhower and Reagan in particular. Part of the problem is that he has recently lost weight.

Except for one enormous distinction; Barney Fife was allowed to carry a bullet for his gun.

“Thompson’s ability to slug it out with Giuliani, coupled with overall improvement in the quality of his answers, makes him one of tonight’s winners.”

I have NEVER doubted Fred’s ability to slug it out — I’d have been absolutely stunned if he couldn’t.

“’If a man can do all that and be lazy, I recommend it to everybody,’ Thompson said to loud applause.”

That he might be lazy NEVER entered my mind. If anyone on these threads has come so far and accomplished as much, my hat is off to you as well as Fred.

What I’m trying desperately to do is accustom myself to his “laid-back” approach to the campaign. I’m all for the “slow, but steady wins the race,” approach, but lets pump it up, boy.

Mike Huckabee was the clear winner of the debate last night. Others held their own, rose in acceptance somewhat, but Huckabee and Hunter showed well.

Once, again, I was so proud of all of them. McCain’s star-power line about Woodstock, Rudy’s “Hillary Quote,” Fred’s “No apologies,” were show stoppers. Mitt needs to pump it up, but he lost no ground. Tancredo was priceless on the post debate interviews.

Ron Paul hit the nail on the head for medical insurance and the problems everyone is encountering (docs and patients). He’s shrill and I’d have to put cotton in my ears through every State of the Union address, and he sounds like the village idiot on other issues — BUT HE’S OUR IDIOT and the first guy who takes a shot at him will have to duck my ire.

I’m proud of the field, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM — I want them all in the White House — preferably at once. They each have a piece of the puzzle.

Well you know, he died from his cancer six months ago, so the road back to full health is a little longer than if he had simply had it treated...

I didn’t watch the debate. I’m leaning towards Fred, but I’m not committed to anything yet except that I strongly oppose Guiliani and to a lesser degree Romney.

That being said, how can you claim Fred won when in another post to FR the following is quoted:

“The Fox News Republican Presidential debate in Orlando Florida revealed that the GOP nomination is still up for grabs. According to Fox News Viewers text voting after the debate, Ron Paul won with 34%, Huckabee came in second with 27%, and Giuliani third with 11%.”

Also, based upon the write up posted on the FOX website, it appears to me that Huckabee was the most “adult” acting person of the group. They quote him:

Mike Huckabee rejected the catfight, noting that he’s content to let the other candidates fight it out. “Shed each other’s blood and then I’ll be ready to run for president because I’m not interested in fighting these guys. What I’m interested in is fighting for the American people, and I think they’re looking for a presidential candidate who’s not so interested in a demolition derby against the other people in his own party,” Huckabee said.

Again they quote him on Mrs. Clinton:

But Huckabee didn’t take so lightly the challenge posed by Clinton.

“You know, it’s interesting, the most, I guess, wonderful reaction we’ve had in this entire room is when Hillary’s name is mentioned. It gets louder than an Aerosmith concert. But I want to say this — you’ve asked: What’s the difference? No matter which one of us is on this stage — and, look, I like to be funny, let me be real honest with you. There’s nothing funny about Hillary being president,” he said.

Just based upon this information, it looks like Huckabee came out looking the best. It will be interesting if he shows a bump in the polls.

At least FOX didn’t say anything bad about Senator Thompson. It did make it look like he zapped Rudy and Mitt. Which I find a nice thing.

Fred would do much better if he got rid of the “uh’s”....

Although I am still troubled by his CFR ties, I could vote for Thompson if he was the nominee. Especially if Duncan Hunter was his VP

Heh heh...

That’s what I like, he looks like he has that wisdom.

I also like what someone said, though I think the were at least trying to make it a negative. They said he was “terse and commanding”

Like I don’t want a POTUS that cuts to the chase, throws no bull*hit and is in charge...

That’s for democrats...
