The left can’t resist bringing in its agenda every chance it gets. The agenda is to convince mind-numbed robots that “alternative lifestyles” are normal.

Have you even read any of them? I guess you think that Disney's movies are Satan's work as well.
Not exposing your kids to something and prohibiting them from reading those books is the most certain means of getting them to read them.
Any evil which might come from reading a book like the Harry Potter books is already present in the individual.
I've read the entire series and it hasn't affected me at all.
...KILL! KILL! KILL! EVIL! EVIL! EVIL! REDRUM! REDRUM! REDRUM!...
I'm sorry what was I saying? Oh yes, I have suffered no ill effects from reading fantasy...IT'S NOT REAL! That's why they call it "fantasy," that's why they call it "fiction."
Get a grip.

If you have "Faith," then you should have nothing to fear from a book.!

Anyone who sees Satan in these books is blinded by his own opinion and lacks real faith. Those who have faith have nothing to fear from Satan, or Satin...sheets,which are really, really nice for sleeping on, especially when their color contrasts nicely with the walls and drapes. I prefer mine with ruffles.

I heard the other day (2nd hand from an English scholar) that reading and digesting Harry Potter is becoming standard fare for children in English schools. Part of the curriculum is the kids learning how to cast spells and do other types of witchcraft, similar to that in the books.
Can anybody in England confirm or deny that observation?

Well since its all about sorcery and such I would think that would be enough to make it something decent God fearing folks wouldn’t want their kids studying up on.

The point is that not every single piece of fiction must be written with one purpose in mind. Sometimes entertainment is just entertainment, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

I guess it is time to tell the truth. Uncle Arthur from the TV show “Bewitched” was gay.

I never said Sherlock was homosexual, just that it has been debated for 100 years. He was most certainly a misogynist.

Yeah, and I can't believe Liberace was gay. I mean, women loved him! I didn't see that one coming!

the books are all published so she made a killing. But the movies are not all done and she could still make a killing from them. She didn't make a killing, she made a billion. Big difference there.
Once you have a Billion, you have so much money that you could put it all into some relatively safe investment, and go out and go out and spend a million every single week, and never touch the principal, and never run out of cash. In fact, if you bought things like real estate, you would only continue to get wealthier.
In other words, you would basically be foolproof wealthy.
So Rowling really doesn't need any more money. Yes, it would be nice to make more, but having $2 billion isn't that much different from having $1 billion. More so when you're one of only six female self-made billionaires in the entire world, and the only author in history to hit the billionaire mark.
Either option is more than any reasonable person could get through in several lifetimes.
There is, of course, a saying that nothing is foolproof to a really talented fool. As evidence of that, we need only produce a certain Mr. Jackson.
To: napscoordinator
By the way, can you imagine spending $1 million in a single week? Think about it.
And when you've absorbed the idea of that level of wealth, then think about being able to do that, if you wanted to, every single week of your life.

” Dumbledore is not gay in the books. Dumbledore is not a real person but only exists as a character in the books/movies.”
She wrote the book and evidently viewed him this way when the book was written.
So yes she did write in a gay character. It goes to the author’s character that she saw fit to create a homosexual character in a children's book

You didn't read my post very closely. Yes, of course they're fiction, duh! My point was that by that logic, then a fictional book that glorifies murder or lying or stealing or whatever is also harmless for kids... because it's just fiction! And I didn't say that it would have any ill effects on a grown adult. I just don't think that promoting a book to kids that makes witchcraft 'cool' and harmless is a good idea, from a Christian perspective.
I'm just speaking about christians here, for the nonchristians of course they don't believe in witchcraft or sorcery in the first place, so it's all good.
To: Terpfen
On the other hand, why does the author of a piece of fiction read by many kids (and frankly aimed at them, even tho there are many adults who read it) have to, at the very end, have one of the main characters be homosexual? It’s an interesting question, do you have an answer?
