Oh, no! :*(
I grew up on Porter Waggoner (2 g’s) when Dolly Parton was just starting out and selling “Breeze” laundry detergent with a free towel in the box! I haven’t listened to him in years but I remember his show fondly. Prayers and condolences to his family and friends for their loss. :*(

If there had been no Porter Wagoner, would there have been a Dolly Parton?
Probably not, and the world would have been worse off. It is always interesting how the Lord works in our lives and in others.

Bless him.
I remember Breeze with the towel in the box. I also remember Howdy Doody teaspoons.

I had forgotten about “Breeze and the free towels. I remember when I was a kid, telling my Mother to buy breeze so I could get a free towel. I don’t think she ever did.
I was never a big Porter Waggoner fan (never disliked him either) but still remember his show and thos flashy outfits he wore.

Anyone remember Norma Jean? She was the singer on the Porter Wagoner show before Dolly came along.

I was adopted from Tipton (OK) Children’s Home in Tipton Ok.
The home had rules.....if the Porter Waggoner
show was on, you watched or you did not eat. Non negociable.

"I grew up on Porter Waggoner (2 gs) when Dolly Parton was just starting out and selling Breeze laundry detergent with a free towel in the box!"Thanks ... I had totally forgotten about those towels. I was only a small child, but remember watching Porter in his pretty suits on the B&W console.
