Barry Goldwater, Jr. Endorses Ron Paul

Barry M. Goldwater, Jr. endorsed Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul for president.

“America is at a crossroads,” said Mr. Goldwater. “We have begun to stray from our traditions and must get back to what has made us the greatest nation on earth or we will lose much of the freedom we hold dear. Ron Paul stands above all of the other candidates in his commitment to liberty and to America.”

“Leading America is difficult, and I know Ron Paul is the man for the job,” he added.

LOL! Like he did when he said that Vietnam was a "useless war"? How encouraging for the veterans of that conflict.

I think Goldwater was dead right on that one. Vietnam never attacked America. We went in on the say-so of a small circle of Camelot Democrat "best and brightest", the Kennedy equivalent of Roosevelt's brain trust. Goldwater understood that our military power is to be reserved for times when the nation's existence is threatened - and that when this happens, we need to fight to win.

No. I’m a grassroots supporter who is in one of the meetup groups. I’m not employed by the campaign, if that’s what you meant. I am a small business owner, an active pro-life volunteer activist and a conservative Christian.

I'm actually pretty sure that he requested his pictures not be posted on FR. The dumbass got himself in legal trouble somehow.

According to some here, you're a traitor.

With all due respect, you’ve had the wool pulled over your eyes and are only working to destroy the Republican party and any chances we may have to prevent the next President being a Democrat. That goes for all the RuPaul supporters.

The only reason people are following him is because he’s opposed to the Iraq war. The American public has no patience for the War on Jihad; they are “tired” of it. The shyster RuPaul offers relief and they take it.

Libertarians want the freedoms of this nation without paying the price.

How about we’re following him because he is the only conservative running ? And this is supposed to be a conservative site ?

Ron Paul has this idea that we should only go to war when there is a threat to our national security. Look around, we have the best military in the world. I’m not scared, and if you want real fear, maybe move to North Korea or Venezuela, and see if you feel as safe as we are here.

"The Government that is big enough to give you everything you need, is also big enough to take away everything you have." -- Barry Goldwater

Actually:
"A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have."
Gerald Ford in a Presidential address to a joint session of Congress (12 August 1974)
Even Ford had a couple good quotes. But it does sound like Goldwater, I'll grant you.

Because I heard him with my own ears on the TV. No, if you want documentation, you do the legwork. All I know is that I supported him for president just before I was able to vote and when I heard some of the things he was saying in his later years (and I also heard he say he supported gays), I felt betrayed.

During a time of war, treason is punishable by death.

Then I'm sure you can point me to the relevant statute that prescribes that sanction mandatorily.

Of course, according to Ron Paul, we're not actually at war.

Well, he votes against it some of the time and he votes for it some of the time. But he says he's against it.

One Libertarian supports another Libertarian. What shock.

So go back to the Libertarian Party.

I’m happy here; I’m not going anywhere. Is that the only argument you have, to tell someone you disagree with to leave this country?

Our military is protecting all Americans right now, doing what they are doing. But keep your head in the sand re the islamo-fascist threat; they are protecting you anyway.

Way to move the goalposts. Let's try this, should Ron Paul supporters be imprisoned?

Hearsay, no documentation. And why should I do the research to support your assertion? Hello.

I think Goldwater was dead right on that one. Vietnam never attacked America.

Vietnam, America's ally, was attacked. That's kind of the point of the war.

America helps its allies, especially when its allies are being attacked by proxy armies of international Communism.

I respectfully disagree with your conclusions.

Also, I know many Ron Paul supporters who follow him for reasons other than his stand on the war.

Moreover, your assertion that the American public has no patience for the war suggests that you believe that a majority of Americans oppose continuing the war. If this is true, how can you justify, in a representative republic, allowing the government to continue the war in its present form?
