Clinton: Use Fluorescent Bulbs, Wrap Water Heaters in Blankets By Matt Purple CNSNews.com Correspondent November 19, 2007
(CNSNews.com) - Presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) has published a list of 10 ways Americans can "address global warming and increase our energy independence" on her Web site.
These include replacing incandescent light bulbs with fluorescent ones and wrapping your home's water heater in a blanket. It is not known whether Clinton or her presidential campaign staff practices these apparent energy-saving tips.
"You can save 1,000 pounds of carbon dioxide each year by wrapping your water heater in an insulation blanket," according to HillaryClinton.com.
Visitors to the Web site are asked to take a pledge to "confront ... global warming and move our country towards energy independence."
The energy-saving advice was posted to coincide with the release of Clinton's new proposed energy policy, which would, among other things, set up a $50 billion strategic energy reserve and phase out the incandescent light bulb.
Other points of advice included turning down the air conditioning, using energy generated by renewable sources like wind and solar power, and simply recycling.
"By recycling half of your household waste, you can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide annually," the Web site said.
But some have called into question whether Clinton - whose presidential campaign has spent $40,472,775 as of September and operates multiple private jets - is being consistent with the conservation advice she has dispensed.

The best cure for global warming would be to wrap Hillary Clinton (and Al Gore) in plastic.
They make insulating blankets for water heaters. I’ve had one on mine for about 10 years. To improve efficiency, not reduce carbon.
Does she mean open ANWR for exploration and ease restrictions on off-shore drilling?

The last thing you should do is let anything flamable get near your water heater.

okay Senator Clinton lets try these measures:
-The air conditioning systems shall remain OFF in ALL federal buildings located in DOE’s climate zones 3-7.
-The heating system shall remain OFF in ALL federal buildings located in DOE’s climate zones 1 and 2.
-The thermostat in the winter in ALL federal buildings located in zones 3-7 shall be set at 65 degrees in the winter.
-ALL federal buildings must have white roofs, and a minimum efficiency of the hvac system of 85%
The US Govt is the largest owner of building in the world. How about energy conservation start with federal bldgs.
Pure and simple, Global Warming is a way for the Democrats to steer the public’s attention away from the real issues.
And the sheep eat it up...Baaaah Baaaaah.
Well, now that she’s told me to do this, I think I’ll do the opposite and take out all the CF bulbs I ALREADY use, unwrap my water heater and go throw an old car battery into the creek.

I bought the CF bulbs to lower my electric bill and because the bulbs last longer...not to stop GW. lol
