Well, they should obviously ban smoking on the Pacific Ocean.

"The amount of methane release from COP seeps is around two million cubic feet per day, according to Valentine. About 100 barrels of oil oozes out of this area as well." And we are not drilling here because of why?

Well... What about the Sargasso Sea in the Atlantic Ocean? I’ll bet there methane percolatin up from that becalmed bed of rotting seaweed.

The amount of methane release from COP seeps is around two million cubic feet per day, according to Valentine. About 100 barrels of oil oozes out of this area as well. Methane warms the Earth 23 times more than carbon dioxide when averaged over a century. Thus the fate of the methane bubbles from the seeps is an important environmental question.
Yeah, BS, but whatever line of crap it takes to exploit seafloor methane hydrates and clathrates and "seeps" is fine, so long as it actually gets exploited. Thanks Ernest.

Valentine said that while the seeps at COP are among the largest in the world, they can be found just about anywhere. 1% into the atmosphere...
20,000 cu-ft/day here, 10,000 there, 12,000 over yonder, and pretty soon you're talking some real tonnage.
How many cows and sheep does that translate to?
Multiply by 23, and that equals how many cars worth of CO^2 output/day?
Tell me again about how Man is the chiefest, vilest, dirtiest plantet killing culprit.
