I thought the time was right to start up a live thread for results and comments about tonight, so here we are!
No one but conspiracy geeks and Paulestinians cares about Fred's "CFR connections." And tax increases are a weak weapon in this election cycle, given the binge spending of W and the Republicans in Congress -- I'd rather pay taxes than pay interest on the deficit, and many Americans feel the same. Of course, I'd rather cut spending and pay neither.
I remember seeing my first Clinton commercial too, and thinking oh, he’s too obviously sleazy, I can’t believe the Democrats, let alone the general population, will fall for him! (And, to be fair, he at least didn’t get a majority in either election.)
I am still wondering who to support: Mitt or Fred.
Romney was just on FOX and he said there are TWO debates this weekend, one on Saturday and one on Sunday...I will really really have to watch.

No kidding. I just left a high school full of folks, GOP & Dim, who are still voting. The press needs to shut up until the fat lady sings.
Flat out, no. The Dems have a VERY competitive race and their turnout is -- literally -- three times what was predicted.
Huckabee's winning because there are a lot of people who honestly believe they will be judged to be sinful and tossed into the fires of Hell if they vote for any candidate other than him. They don't care that he's horrible on virtually every issue but life.
The same kind of people who believe in the Prayer of Jabez, the Bible Code, that Christ was born literally on December 25th and that angels aren't God's messengers but cute little kids with bird wings.

That doesn’t happen very much in the caucuses because they are just informal groups that discuss the candidates and then break up into all the factions and talk some more and then vote. They are pretty much dominated by the big mouthed party leaders, or at least that’s the way they were in WA State.
Obama is starting to widen his lead as the more urban counties report in. This can’t be making Hilary happy right now
It was small town america votes I guess. I volunteered to sit on the county republican committee. Does things like the booth at the county fair etc. Time to get involved and make the local level work better I think.
Had a whole notepad of notes that I took but three of the candidates had reps there to speechify for them. Ron Paul, Huck, Romney (apparently he has a great brother-in-law, thats most of what the guy representing him talked about.) Rudy's rep was a drop-dead gorgeous blonde but she didn't help.
The final breakdown was:
Huck - 24 votes
Romney - 18 votes
Fred -13 votes
McCain - 8 votes
Paul - 6 votes
And the surprise of the night:
Rudy - 3 votes (inspite of the blonde)
That's most of it ;)
The precincts reporting are mainly rural, where Huck was expected to do very well. Those precincts also have lower numbers. These numbers could change across the board yet.

I think in good times, people vote personality over anything—and these are good times. Think about it. When things are going well, what are you gravitating toward? You want the guy who can crack a good joke, tell a good story, slap you on the back and have a good laugh. You don’t look at deeper issues, one has to hit you in the face and matter for long enough to make you remember at the polls.
Only if you guarantee me that they would put McCain in the insane asylum, before they would ever let him be President... LOL
That's what the focus groups were saying and apparently is what DODD, BIDEN AND RICHARDSON ARE SAYING BY ASKING THEIR SUPPORTERS TO GO OVER TO OBAMA. I am beside myself with joy that the 'inevitable candidate' just got a rude awakening.
Foxnews says Hillary will blast Obama tomorrow on his health care plan as her mantra "candidate for change" ain't working!
