He was good tonight, but he has no chance in the general.

Hard to say at this point. Just who on the Republican side do YOU think has a chance in the general election?

I don’t think we need to waste anymore time on americaphobe or whatever his name is. We’ve challenged him to debate, and he’s proven he’s not up to it.

Each of the candidates has deep flaws, but in MY opinion, there are only 3 nationally viable candidates: Giuliani, Romney and McCain.

Uh, so I'm a hypocrite because I don't post by YOUR standards?

I wasn't the one bemoaning the lack of discussion, you were. But like so many liberals, you just love tossing that word around--even though you obviously are unfamiliar with its meaning.

You are a ridiculous person who shouldn't use big words you don't understand.

BTW--a very silly use of your time--searching through my posts for something to "use" against me, when you wanted "discussion".

Decrying the use of glib one-liners by using a glib one-liner. Talk about hypocrisy.

P.S. You didn’t understand my use of quotes around “logic,” obviously. My point was nothing like yours.

No, you're a hypocrite because you don't post by YOUR standards.

"like so many liberals"..."you are a ridiculous person" ahh...the ad homonym attack, the true last vestige of the defeated and the truly liberal.

Once again, your hypocrisy is demonstrable. I'm sorry I've upset you...you can go back to your safe Fred Threads now. Hit me up when he drops out.

No, you're a hypocrite because you don't post by YOUR standards.

But YOU were the one complaining, not me. Aren't you even aware of your own posts?

"like so many liberals"..."you are a ridiculous person" ahh...the ad homonym attack, the true last vestige of the defeated and the truly liberal.

The last refuge of the man who CLAIMS he wants "discussion" and, when given the floor, has nothing.

Once again, your hypocrisy is demonstrable. I'm sorry I've upset you...you can go back to your safe Fred Threads now. Hit me up when he drops out.

You keep tossing around that word, hypocrisy, yet you clearly don't know its definition.

You keep crying about Fred threads, yet when directly invited to start a discussion about your problems with him--nothing.

Sorry you can't take the "attacks" but I call 'em like I see 'em. You just post these silly assertions, and when invited to DISCUSS--as you whined that you want to...nothing but personal bull.

You are worse than a hypocrite; you have nothing at all to say but one-liners you can't back up.

My proof?

Simply read all the posts you've made to this thread since bleating about wanting "discussion".

No discussion, just time-wasting nothingness.

Now go away, the adults want to talk. Whining about "Fredheads" don't cut it here, boy.

Who does have a chance in the general election? Reagan spoke the same way and he had a chance. Tell me how you feel about Reagan?

I think everyone here underestimates...the unmitigated fervor of the liberals in the country to “take back” the White House

Fervor and feelings are the liberal forte.Getting it done isn't.

It's Fred's time. He hasn't worn out his welcome like the others that have been running for years.

Hillery has wanted to be President since she was in Wellsley,it's been her all-consuming life quest and it ain't gonna happen. Never does with that type.

McCain...last in his class at USNA, flight school, etc. and he will remain consistant...last in his class.

Who's left? A Bob Newhart or Gomer Pyle lookalike? A Ronco whathisname oven salesman?

The choices both R & D are slim, how can Fred not win?

“That reminds me of comments about Reagan. IMHO, Thompson is the only one who can appeal to the religious right supporters of Huckabee, small ‘l’ libertarian supporters of Dr. Paul’s domestic policies, keep the rest of our base and appeal to the independents and donkeys who are incensed against giving illegal aliens driver’s licences.”

You got it right, and yes, there are liberals that won’t vote dem if there’s an anti-illegal immigration candidate on the right. They may not vote at all, but if it’s two morons on that issue, they might vote left by default.

Fred has the broadest coalition of all the candidates, with geniune meaning behind it. That along with his concise views...is very threatening to Obama or Hillary. I’d like to face Hillary, though, because I figure it would bring us all out on that day. Along with Fred, it would increase our numbers.

The rest of them will only do so well in bring people out.

Far from asking you to “shut up”, we’re demanding that you “put up”.

If you want discussion, please, by all means add something worth chewing on. You think Fred Thompson wouldn’t do well in the general election. Fair enough, but we’re not really interested in your mere assertion of opinion.

Tell us WHY you think so. Then us WHY you don’t think that Fred Thompson can reach out to Democrats who are appalled at the hijacking of their party by the CodePink, International ANSWER, Moveon.org types?

How can one of the other candidates do that or do you think it is already a lost cause no matter who the Republican nominee?

Don’t come by here, drop a turd in the punchbowl and expect to be made to feel welcome. ADD something constructive if you can.

My my, SEVEN posts from you in under 45 minutes. I don’t suppose we have an agenda here or something do we? We get it you don’t like him. Thanks.

I suppose a positive NYT article for Fred could be considered “hell freezing over” though.

Back on track with the topic: People really liked the faster talking more animated Fred. I liked him the other way, but I could care less since he is still pushing the same message. If more voters want him to attack once in a while and talk a little faster, and that’s all it takes to get him elected... he should do it!

Go Fred!

Back on track with the topic

Thanks for taking the lead. I don't know why I tried to be cool to that poster and invite him to debate his point. Obviously, that's a distant second to his primary interest, which is obvious.

I have to wonder what's going to happen when Rudy is really in the game. I'm thinking he might lose some support to McCain.

Ironically, I bet Thompson is the second choice of supporters of all the other candidates, for different reasons.

I’m sure the NYT would love nothing more than if we nominated Fred Thompson. He was good tonight, but he has no chance in the general.

That may be true, but I will not vote for John McCain under any circumstance.
In a primary or for President.
And I suspect a lot of conservatives feel the same way.
