As a Conservative I am lost. I will not, under any circumstances vote for John Mclame. He has sold Conservatives out. Nor will I vote for Jesus' favorite candidate Schmuckabee. I believe the most Conservative candidate is Thompson and can't help but wonder who is voting in these things. If Mclame or Schmuckabee is the nominee I can't vote. It will pain me deeply to not vote, but either of those clowns are no different from the lefty. Me question to my FRiends is.. WHAT THE HELL DO WE DO??? The situation seems rather desperate.

Saying/doing nothing would include sitting by and letting Hillary or Obama dismantle our national security. Despite my disagreements with the GOP candidates, every one of them will be stronger on national defense than those two. All I can do is ask you to consider that.

The only thing that can be done now is to unite two fractions of the party by putting two candidates together...one will be left out of the three(fiscal/values/security). It stinks.

In order to prevent the dismantling of our national security , our supposed "GOP" president would need to have military experience. Without that experience they are of little use in preventing the dismantling of our security. That is already happening, haven't you noticed? Google the name "Hesham Islam," for example.
I am afraid there is no difference between the present GOP line up's ability to secure our nation and that of the Democrats. They are all on the same level of ability.

As to the Dems, they will remake the US Forces into a peace corps. And that will be very little difference as to what either McCain or Romney will do as they bring our troops home prematurely from Afghanistan and Iraq. That is their plan.

Has the demoncrap party shifted so far to the left that the republicans can win without the conservatives? I.E can the republicans form a moderate/centrist party? This strategy has never worked historically. Politcal action requires energy, moderation by default is low energy. The east coast check pant Republicans have a theory that most republicans are middle of the road types, embarassed by conservatives. Face it we FR types, conservatives, are the RINO's now, the us equivalent of the brit torries. Just think, I don't have to give campaign donations any more to the republicrats.
If you read up on Romney with an open mind, you will find that yes, he did make some pandering PC statements in 1994 when trying to oust uber-liberal Ted Kennedy in Massachusetts.
And yes, he was once a VERBAL pro-choice supporter.....
But his record of actual governance is fairly conservative... and had great results.
Romney got good marks from all ProLife organizations (check it out yourself) and from the NRA.
Romney, as Governor of Mass, took a LOT of heat and criticism from the homo and abortion lobby because he refused to support their demands.
90% of the slams against Romney are simply hype from super hard-liners who just cant get past those one or two pandering statements Romney made during the heat of the 1994 campaign.
Ann Coulter, Jay Sekulow, Limbaugh, Sen Jim DeMint, Hugh Hewitt, and dozens of other conservatives see in Romney a refreshing conservative face, one who is NOT afraid to promote and support conservative ideas and issues.

It’ll be.... Interesting to see how the election turns out if McCain or Huckabee are the nominee.
My husband is MUCH more pragmatic about these things than I am and even he says that he would not, could not vote for either of them.
I might be able to pinch my nose and support Romney but I’m not even sure of that. I’d go kicking and screaming with my heels well dug in.
I’m with you on Romney. He is far more likely to preserve the conservative agenda than McCain is.
Since abortion gets posters riled up the most, let’s look at it objectively. Romney will run on a pro-life position. People here may not believe him, but do you believe a President Romney would want to be re-elected? I do. Having won, he would govern as a pro-life president (judges, etc.) knowing he would have to get the conservative vote for re-election. Even if you dismiss the ideology, political practicality tells you he would do so.
If you can accept that, then I think there’s no question he’s better than McCain (or any Dem) on national security, immigration, taxes...and being an outsider.
How many red flags does one person need before they realize something is wrong here? Mitt flipped on abortion, gays, health care, immigration, foreign policy...you name.
There is no honor or security in backing this shaky candidate no matter what you value.
I’m afraid I agree. The idea of America has been doomed by your local government school. They are run by the socialists and have been turned into pinko breeding grounds. Their guiding principles are:
1) Political Correctness
2) Multiculturalism
3) Radical Environmentalism
Your children & grandchildren have been converted before your eyes. The majority of Americans under the age of 40 have been force fed the Kommie Kool Aid by your local government school.
Take back the schools to take back America.
Don’t forget that the Fairness Doctrine will also be passed and implemented, and FR and all of conservative talk radio will go bye-bye! Also, amnesty for illegal immigrants will truly be carried out “to the max”, and illegals will also be allowed to legally vote in all future U.S. elections! And too many of you still think that all of this long-term “damage” to the entire U.S. will all pass after just the next four years? This country is truly finished along with U.S. conservatism!
The Conservative Movement hasn’t failed. In all instances in my lifetime we have been outnumbered. Even in the best circumstances with Presidents like Reagan and Bush (and admit it they have been better than any of the others in the past fifty years) and Republicans in control of Congress the liberals and moderates have been able to slow or stop Conservative initiatives over and over because our side lacked the votes.
In the 2006 elections we lost several good voting Conservatives like George Allen and Rick Santorum because Conservatives didn’t show up at the polls to support them. Hand wringing negativism and “take my ball and go home” attitudes contributed to that failure to go and vote.
There are too many here on Free Republic that seem eager to see the left take over completely next year thinking it would pave the path for our return in the next cycle. But what if we don’t? Imagine four years of Hillary appointing Federal Judges or Hussein negotiating with Imanutjob to allow the Persians to have nuclear weapons. Imagine that with crooked elections and gerrymandering the left stays in charge for the next 50 years. Surely you don’t really believe that giving up even an inch to the left is a good strategic move?

I myself could never in good conscience vote for McCain or Huck, or Rudy. Just can’t. McCain is a traitor to this party, always has been. Rudy is a flaming RINO and so is Huck.
I will go to the polls to vote for state and locals. If we can take back Congress and thwart the democrats, that may be what my contribution is this time.
Might be a good idea to quit trusting many Republicans anymore, its getting hard to tell them apart from a Democrat.
