Despite a disappointing finish, Thompson doesn't bow out
Chicago Tribune ^ | January 21, 2008 | William Douglas

"...As soon as Thompson entered the race, analysts began wondering aloud why he got in, saying that he didn't show the fire in the belly that's necessary to run successfully for president. The image of Thompson as a laid-back slowpoke became fodder for late-night television comedians.

Woodard said that Thompson finally appeared to hit his stride on the stump in the Palmetto State, speaking to overflow crowds in the past week.

"Here's what happens when you're a candidate -- you get better as you go along," he said. "The problem is Huckabee's got a three-month jump on him. Fred is a good, tough candidate. If he was like this in September, things might be different."

There are reasons Fred is not flying ....

Overweight and older, and just not looking up to the job physically.

That said, McCain is much worse, but he has the Drive buys propping him up. McCain could have a stroke and start mumbling and drooling like Woodrow Wilson, and the Drive Buys would promote him even more.

A very reasoned post. Even if I disagree with some of your points, I can respect them.

The “Fred is the only....” and all others are some devil incarnate is way beyond reason.

Would we be able to tell the difference?

Not looking to win through losing, just looking to head in the right direction. I would prefer a quick end to a slow tortuous demise. I would rather learn the ropes to a socialist state while I still have some youth than have to suffer it in my old age.

So now I am a heretic.

Oh well.

As for 3rd party, I guess you would be satisfied if a Republican never won again.

Huck supporters are not Conservatives, at least the ones that truly have looked at his record. Look how easy it is to get a guy like McCain in the lead. A liberal pro life governor from Arkansas using Clinton tactics has effectively stopped the pro life candidate with the fiscal and defense credentials we need from getting the votes he would have otherwise gotten. I think the majority of Fred supporters could never support Huck. They would scatter between Rudy and Mitt and maybe McCain.

Ping Jim Noble... he thinks that we really don’t exist outside of some minimal number that the Rino Party no longer needs to win elections. He is in this thread.

Ahh there you go again, “heretic”,. Listen viper, I believe that Jesus died was buried and rose again the third day. I believe that works he did we will do and greater works because he goes to the Father. I also know that Satan appears as a minister of light. The absolute only candidate whose entire following is based on his religious affiliation is Huckabee. Fred talks issues while Huck plays the victim. Fred sticks to his principals while Huck changes with the polls. He is a double minded man unstable in all his ways. If he is double minded on taxes, the border, national defense, Americas foreign policy you can bet he is unstable on life too.

Going forward in Florida and beyond, every vote for Thompson or Huck and not for Romney is a vote for John McCain to the be GOP candidate for President.

And he’ll choose Huck to be VP - they’ve been thick as thieves through this entire horror show.

Romney’s a “Focus Group” candidate, who ran for Governor in MA as a Liberal, as a stepping stone to running for President. His conversion to conservative values began about two years ago, just prior to formally announcing his intentions to run for President.

As a lifelong gun-owners supporter, he joined the NRA in 2006.

Government mandated health care, including subsidized abortions, is now part of his Conservative platform.

Here is Conservative Romney, a few years (not 1994) prior to his conversion...

You may want to Google search on “Thompson flip” before you say much more.

Reading your past posts it seems you do very little advancing the “huckster”. You seem to go out of your way to come on posting about Fred and throw bombs. You would make a very good Democrat!

The “Stupid Party” is foisting RINOs and liberal Republicans before us.

The stupid party is doing no such thing, your protestations to the contrary, and the only way it will be mz clinton, is if folks like you continue the negative attacks on the candidates who have chosen to run for President of the United States, under the Republican banner.

In addition, there are a host of folks with the same stupid message, with the equally dumb disclaimer that they will find it just impossible to vote for this or that Republican candidate, who just doesn’t measure up to the very narrow view of candidate qualifications equaling “perfect” in their eyes.

It is dumb people with dumb ideas that are hoping Hillary wins so they can crow “I told you so”. It is dumb people with dumb ideas who will chose not to vote for a Republican candidate deemed less than perfect, who will possibly allow Hillary in. It is dumb people with dumb ideas who can’t get past their negativism who will willingly grant Hillary the win.

All warfare is based on deception.

Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.

Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him.

Thanks, but I’d prefer to be a Republican.

I’ll continue to support Huckabee, but posting it on “FredRepublic.com” is asking to swat at mosquitoes all day.

I will NEVER VOTE FOR McCain! I dare ANY McCain supporter to listen to this McCain interview and then tell me McCain is not a liberal on illegal immigration! Fred has the plan that will work! GO FRED!
