Not gonna happen. There’s no way he’ll accept with McCain. McCain's the first candidate he would hope to offer him a VP slot. They were chums in the Senate (and still are) and they were on the same side of many issues. Among other things, did you know Thompson was a strong supporter of McCain-Feingold?

I think a case can be made that Fred was running for a VP slot all along.

I don’t think he even wanted to be President all that bad.

No he was not obsessed with being President like Hilliary et al.

But when he decided to run, he wanted it more than anyone else, and for the right reasons.

This is an obvious RINO move now, kill the Conservative candidate as the standard bearer, but then get him on the ticket where he will not really influence policy but will possibly throw the base enough of a bone to keep them voting.

Truth.

Fred could barely muster the energy to run for the presidency. He couldn’t care less about being number two.

This would seal the deal for McCain if Thompson became his running mate because all GOP Conservatives that have said they would never vote for McCain would suddenly forget they ever said it.

If McCain serves one term due to his age, it would bring age up as an issue that would not help a VP Thompson, who is only 6 years younger.

If Fred had a strong sayso on policy, that could work, kind of balancing out Romney.

Fred’s job is to continue to expose McCain’s anti-constitutional streak and his penchant to think like
a democrat!!

"LOL the media wanted him out but now they want to write storys about him being a VP choice?"

It's hillarious, isn't it?

Well, the only candidate that would make sense is Romney, and I personally think it would be fantastic. Although I was a Romney supported from day one, I have a lot of respect for Fred and his ideals and experience. That said, it seems that Fred isn’t too interested in being a VP (his words, not mine), and in ‘00 he threw his support to McCain. So, I have a feeling a McCain endorsement might be given... which eliminates a Romney/Thompson ticket and eliminates a lot of my respect for Thompson. A McCain/Thompson ticket is about as unelectable as it comes, simply because of their age.

With no real conservatives running for President, the non-RINO Republicans will now shift their focus to House and Senate races, in hopes of minimizing the damage from whichever moron we end up with.
