My reputation procedes me, lol.

(But I’m glad people are enjoying them).

Yep. The batman pics, the crypto list, and for a brief time your freeptoons.

Sorry to distract from the topic.

Why do people only remember the Brokeback Mountain role?

Oh, I don't know. Maybe because the media elites did more free publicity for that movie than practically any other before or since?

R Lee Ermy has played a gay man on at least one occasion I can think of. That doesn’t make him gay, just an actor.

A gay man who marries Jack Black, no less.

On Headline news, apparently he had just got back from some overseas trip, and the pills were sleeping pills, so this may have just been a tragic accident.

It must be horrible being forced to watch all those homosexual movies. C’mon over and mom will give you a hug!

He had a free choice in selecting a part that made a political statement

Or, he selected the part not for the political statement, but for the challenge of an actor playing a part so out of character from your normal role. That kind of acting diversity generally sets an actor for life. After coming off Knights Tale and Brother's Grimm, he may have wanted a role far different from what he had been doing.

See my #212. It's the context of the movie and the portrayal of the homosexual lifestyle. Dogday was based on an actual even and the homosexuality was a sideline to the main plot. Brokeback, OTOH, centered on the *love story*, which was the general raison d'etre of the entire movie.

so he’s fair game for ridicule in death eh? PATHETIC.

Where, exactly, did I ridicule him?

This poor young man is just another in a long line of cautionary examples coming out of the entertainment industry.

His death is sad--and it was avoidable.

I don't see many ridiculing him.

However, many don't respect him much for participating in gay culture.

I feel really sad too...I immediately thought of River Phoenix whom I also loved as an actor...Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams were actually Brooklyn residents (Cobble Hill to be exact) up until they split about 6 months ago...my daughter was at our local playground linton Hill about 2 months ago when Heath Ledger showed up with his daughter Matilda and his girlfriend...my garnddaughter is 4 so she didn’t have time to waste with his daughter who is only 2 years old but my daughter said that he was very normal and hands-on with his little girl who was just running around and having the time of her life...it’s so very sad.

He was a very good actor. What a terrible shame. Prayers for his family & friends. Way too young to go.

I have to agree with Joe on this one.

I saw an interview during his promotion of the film - and he was not a-political on the issue.

Watch for the conspiracy theories from the left to claim he was murdered by "right wingers" for his role in Brokeback.

Think I am kidding?

I bet the thread is being posted on DU or somewhere tonight.

Gilliam has rotten luck with movies. The one he was making about Don Quixote had to be scraped as I imagine this one will as well.

Agreed. Very, very sad... My daughters just loved him, and they are all upset right now... I really do hope it turns out NOT to be a suicide and just an unfortunate accidental overdose, or interaction, or hidden medical condition or something... However, it seems he was going through some stressful times with his ex-fiance and young daughter, and probably tired from finishing the filming of the Batman movie, so suicide is a possibility I suppose.

I rented Knight’s Tale last week for my GF and her son who had never seen it. I prefaced the movie for the 10 year-old by saying “This is an educational film about Knights and Jousting”. When the music of Queen’s “Rock You” cranked up the son chimed in, “They didn’t have electric guitars back then!”. It was a good laugh.
