Scooter Clippard, who spent the past few months trying to get folks to open their wallet for Fred Thompson's ill-fated presidential campaign, now is dialing for dollars for John McCain.
Clippard, former national fundraising chairman for Thompson, is now national finance co-chair for McCain. The move came two days after Thompson shut down his campaign.
Says McCain, who hopes to get an endorsement from Thompson, "We are honored to have a key leader from my friend Fred Thompson's campaign. Fred made an invaluable contribution to this race and always enriched the discussion of ideas for America's future."

Right now, this is reality: You can back a “constitutional encyclopedia” or a constitutional moron. That’s the stark choice.
Yes, ma’am...I’m with you!
But, I don’t think he will be on my ballot.
Unless something changes between now and May,
I’m writing him in.
Whatever. Buh bye. Over and out.
If the conservative movement would back him full bore, with the resources and talent they represent, it would be much different.
The true reality is Keyes cannot win the nomination. Period.
Huckabee's politics are actually in two lanes of I-95!
It’s either him or a total RINO. So, I would ask “why”?
Do you mean McCain took an exit and left the whole road to Huckabee?
I have nothing more to say about it.
Fred’s out. Keyes is in.
Enough Christians will stay home when faced with a pro-abort or a cult member.
The key with Huckabee or if it comes down to it McCain will be the VP choice.
Newt is supposed to be advising Huck and Duncan gave him his endorsement. I know Newt is a little flaky on some things lately, but it’s better then the alternatives for now.
Anybody but Willard. He is Bush III.
But to each his own vote.
I think you may have misunderstood something.
Huck is my current #1 choice, unless we can re-draft Hunter.
Alan Keyes, a nation turns its lonely eyes to you...
Keyes has a depth of understanding of our form of government and of foreign policy that none of these candidates even comes close to. Even your beloved Fred. And communication skills that are beyond compare.
I reread... I listened closely to what and the why Hunter said he picked Huckabee. Huckabee was the only one interested and willing to listen to the issues Hunter campaigned upon on.
The fact of the matter is this McCain is opposed to everything Hunter ran on and while he claims he is for border security he has done nothing about the border.
Huckabee himself has less than stellar politics about the illegal invasion and when he elevates McCain as being better and higher than Romney he diminishes his own credibility.
(and no I am not a Romney supporter just have been paying attention to who these people have been not just their supposed campaign promises.)
This campaign season reminds me of Gideon and God telling him to cull his army down so the people would know who was in control.
McCain is better then Willard on many levels.
McCain trashing and preening like a NBC peacock over 'his' destruction of Rummy is worse than anything any of the liberals have done or said. McCain (and yes I know he was a POW) will never get my vote, I expect such trash out of the Clintons, Inc., but it is not acceptable out of a supposed conservative. Nothing Christian about what McCain has done and Huckabee appears willing to drink from that seductive cup. See getting Rummy was/is another of McCain obsessive acts to pay back GWBush for winning election 2000.
This is what did it for me with McCain, although I could link you and list for you a long laundry list of his other contemptuous acts.
