Reagan Library Republican Presidential Debate: January 30, 2008

SIMI VALLEY, California (CNN) -- Republican presidential hopefuls will face off Wednesday night without a familiar face as ex-New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is expected to drop out and endorse front-runner Sen. John McCain.

The remaining candidates will take the stage in a debate -- sponsored by CNN, the Los Angeles Times and Politico -- beginning at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday.

The event at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, follows McCain's Tuesday night win in the Florida primary.

McCain topped former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney 36 percent to 31 percent in the hotly contested race.

Giuliani placed third with 15 percent of the vote, followed closely by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee with 14 percent, and Rep. Ron Paul of Texas was fifth with 3 percent.

Giuliani is expected to end his White House bid and endorse McCain at a campaign event in California later Wednesday, Republican Party sources said.

Minus Giuliani, the debate will be a four-candidate affair -- McCain, Romney, Huckabee and Paul -- with CNN's Anderson Cooper moderating.

I regret that I didn’t serve. I can believe that. I can also believe that he changed his view on abortion, because I did.

McCain’s actions are despicable. Romney helped save companies and jobs with Bain. For McCain to imply that Romney was responsible for people losing their jobs is the worst attack I have heard this campaign.

I am so tired of McCain always patting his own back, publically!

I think he is trying to convince himself about how 'QUALIFIED' he is!

This campaign to me is about choosing either the economy or security....I'm a security mom. I trust Rommney on the enconomy, but he's a dud on security....That's why I voted for John McCain in the AZ primary. I will vote for whoever the nominee is...On another note, this has been the worst Republican campaign I have ever witnessed...And. the rats have nothing on the canibal republicans on this forum.

I will never eat popcorn again!

McCain dabbled into Huckabee’s “businesses shouldn’t be allowed to fire people” schtick.

Oh brother! People lost their jobs when Mitt sold his companies.

That line was lifted from Huckabee. I guess McCain likes it,

Had to correct himself!

McCain TRIED to say he was ‘A leader....errr A FOOTSOLDIER in the Reagan Revolution.’

He didn’t want to say “leader” because then Mitt could ask “Oh yeah? What issue did you lead on?”

McCain wouldn’t have an answer on that!

He loathes the military

Romney loathes the military!? You've really gone over the edge. You base that statement on what?

Just like the Paultards here on FR.

But you support McCain though. How can you have the audacity to call us names when you support someone who has a history of losing their temper and have stabbed conservatives in the back? Come on now ETC....

Romney needs to quit debating the military stuff. He’s a loser here. Steer each answer back to the economy no matter the question.

Agreed. I was fearing him giving McCain an opening for a 'zinger' like what happened to Dan Quayle at the VP debate.

I’m watching the CNN instant reaction grapph.

Every time Romney speaks, he’s in the 70s.

Everytime McCain speaks, he’s in the 50s.

When he drops names and uses slimy lines, McCain drops to the 30s.

The people measuring this DON’T like him.
