Romney did not and doesn’t support the Bush/McCain views on amnesty, which is why Bush is so upset with him per the Novak column. Huckabee and Paul have no shot at winning. If you want to stop amnesty, vote for Romney.

As I recall, the only reason Brownhack didn't join his buddy Juan McCain on this vote is because he changed it once he saw his vote wasn't needed to pass it.

Here are the Senators who voted against the Cornyn amendment , which would have established a permanent bar for gang members, terrorists, and other criminals looking to snag a shamnesty visa. Republicans underlined:

Never forget McCain not only pushed the amnesty bill, he refused to allow exclusions for the worst of the lot. And he unloaded his infamous temper on his mild-mannered senate colleague for having the audacity to introduce this amendment.

I’m not wild about McCain.

But this list has some pretty damn impressive conservatives on it:

Coburn
Kyle
Thune
Dan Coats
Phil Gramm
Mack Mattingly
Don Nickles
Bill Simon

Not listed are Olsen, Steve Forbes and many others.

Yes, there are some liberals and RINOs on there, also.

But I’d vote for any of those supporters of McCain’s listed above and in fact have voted for one of more of them, at various times....

In any event, McCain is the GOP nominee and he does have some legitimate conservative support.

Why not run on a record instead of how many politicians he knows?

If I spent 20 years living in DC I would have a long list of friends too.

Doesn't mean I am more qualified though.

The U.S. Senate is often referred to as the most exclusive club in the world. This is why we see so many senators endorsing McCain. These member of the House of Lords place their combined royal status and the perks thereof before the needs, wants and desires of the peons below them.

The senators may have policy and/or ideological differences, but they have one thing in common.......their bonding together for immunity against the masses.

Well, of course Brownback would support McCain. Brownie was in favor of the amnesty bill and would have voted for it if he hadn’t been innundated with phone calls and e-mails.

You can add Roger Villere, Chairman of the Republican Party of Louisiana, to your list of STATE PARTY CHAIRS. After the elected slate of delegates decided to support McCain, he joined them, along with Louisiana’s RNC members, and they all urged everyone else in the country to unite behind McCain and start focusing on stopping Hillary or Obama in November.
