Mike Huckabee, who has won in Alabama, Arkansas, and West Virginia and is competing for several other states, declared tonight that he -- not Mitt Romney -- and John McCain are competing for the Republican nomination.
Saying there's been a lot of talk about a two-man race, Huckabee said, "It is, and we're in it." He told supporters in Little Rock, Ark., that he is doing well "to the amazement" of a lot of pundits.
"And I also want you to know, that as long as there's still votes and delegates to be won until that magic number of 1,191 there's going to be one guy answering the bell every time there's a new round."

Actually, he sort of did endorse him: "We need to make sure that we have a strong person who can take the baton from President Bush, and Gov. Huckabee is certainly one of those individuals. He'd make a fine president." - Mitt Romney, 2005
Maybe, but I doubt that Huckabee’s psychiatrist will be impressed.
A vote for Keyes is a vote for Kucinich.
Explain to me your definition of “key battleground state” and why it doesn’t seem to include Michigan.
McCain thinks is has it rapped up, now playing nice with Romney. Transparent.

I’m finding it easier by the minute to hate this delusional B.S. artist.
huckabee will pave the way for a Fred pick as VP.
If huckabee was not in the race, romney would still be 2nd but there would be no appeal to social conservatives.
If romney was not in the race, there would be no voice for the people who care deeply about immigration
Fred could bring back both camps together. Not perfectly but combined with mccain’s appeal to independents and security hawks, mccain would have the best chance of any GOP candidate to win
Actually, I think Huckabee is the only one who has any chance of winning nationally. McCain is a bitter old man who has been annointed by the lefty press, and Romney is a middle aged cynic who has the money to buy the job, so we have all been thinking that one or the other of them will get it.
But Huckabee is the only one with ideas and a personality, and the only one who might be able to kick Obama back to his Luo cousin in hell-hole Kenya.
Huckabee’s success is rather amazing...no money like Romney and no mainstream media-anointed momentum like McCain...hated by the “conservative” radio talking heads, look at all the hatred for him represented here...Huckabee won’t get the nomination but what he has been able to accomplish is very impressive given the lack of resources and all the animosity directed at him.
Obama would like to see that too, it would guarantee his victory. He (or Hillary) will rely on the Republicans to stay at home, vote 3rd party, or write candidates to win.
Mike Soundbite. He could actually win the nomination in our vacuous culture.
The Huckster is too smart for that. McCain is the Media Darling, a war hero and and old geezer. Romney is rich, young, pretty and the outsider. People love it when he hits Romney.
Are you trying to cheer me up with logic and reason?
You are mistaken, Obama and McCain would split the liberal vote opening the door for a conservative.
If Huckabee plus Romney total a majority, even if Huckabee plus McCain would also total a majority, I would think Romney could prevent McCain from taking the nomination by offering Huckabee the #1 spot. Given that McCain is a back-stabbing traitor in addition to being a liberal, and given that Romney wouldn't be able to do much else useful with his delegates, I wonder if that might be a worthwhile strategy?
