A pledge to never vote for McCain (Vanity)
February 5, 2008 | Tree of Liberty

Posted on 02/05/2008 10:11:11 PM PST by Tree of Liberty

If the unfortunate possibility of a McCain nomination comes to pass, I will not work for his election to the presidency, nor will I defend him in ad hoc conversations. He is wholly unworthy for that high office, and it is intolerable for my conscience to abide supporting him.

I will face two options once in the voting booth: 1) cast my ballot for a third party candidate, or 2) simply not vote in the presidential election.

I am curious who among you share my sentiments.

LANDSLIDE OBAMA WINS

Practice saying President Obama....

The old man can’t compete with the anointed new JFK.

One condition may sway me to vote for the slimy POS. VP. Hunter or Tancredo....possibly Haley Barbour.

Otherwise, it truly will be 1996 all over again.

I concur 100% (except that I will DEFINITELY vote third party — not voting just implies apathy, while third party communicates disgust). And really, on Free Republic vowing never to vote for McCain should be no more controversial than vowing never to vote for Hillary... but some people get their knickers in a bunch over that ‘R’ versus ‘D’ thing.

I am with you - no vote for McCain. I may have been able to “hold my nose” and vote for McCain until the stunt he pulled in West Virginia tonight. He just showed me that he and Huckajerk are no better than Hitlery. At least if Hitlery wins we get to watch Bill torment and embarrass her for 4 years.

Count me in. Our two party system has morphed into the same party with two different names. George Washington warned us of allegiances to political parties. His warnings are coming home to roost.

Not only that, she will stack the Court with YOUNG judges. Judges that will shape our country for 40 years if they’re healthy.

I feel sick about this, but I have to vote for the (R) nominee. Hillary or Obama CANNOT win this election.

Maybe we should just cancel it and start working on 2012.

Perhaps we should...it might be a case of "it has to get worse before it can get better" ie. Reagan after Carter.

Please don’t be stubborn. I am just as upset about McCain being the likely nominee as you are- Voting for McCain may be treason to your conservative principles, but allowing Hillary to get the nod is to your country.

Do not let her win.

Did ya look at the stage behind McCain tonight? Lieberman? Crist? Guiliani?

It looked like a bath house gathering of liberals in NYC...not the platform for the REPUBLICAN PARTY.

America can go pound sand. They voted for this and they obviously want to gear to the left with the Dem’s showing up in huge numbers for their dunces.

Let America have Liberal rule for 4-8 yrs.

Get it out of your systems people.

Staying home.

Why not third party? Staying home just tells them you don't care about politics.

I would comment further on that but decorum prevents me.

I will NEVER vote for McCain! NEVER! Hell will literally freeze over before I would cast a vote for him. I’ve seen this coming for a long, long, time. The day that we are a conquered land and no real conservative would ever be elected again. This is what happens when you leave your borders open to the third world for decade after decade and don’t enforce election rules that require one to show proof of citizenship to vote.

We are now a socialist nation. Once the dems are in power long enough, the unions will get back much power as well. The time for Republicans to have taken a stand against open borders was 30 years ago, not now that it is way too late to do anything about it. I hope those that have sold out their country for the benefit of cheap labor are happy when the Dems and unions rake them over the coals. They will reap what they have sowed.

Depends on his VP choice. Squirrel breath would cause me to write in ‘Pedro’.

We need to find a third party candidate that we can support, and vote third party.

The problem is third party balkanization. I would support the Constitution party, but their foreign policy platform is dangerously isolationist.

McCain would nominate the same sort of judges that Hitlery would.

Count me in.

I will vote for the other offices, but I won’t vote for McCain. Ever.

And that will be the first time since 1972 that I won’t be pulling a lever for the office of President.

We can look forward to a 1984 in reverse for us in November.

But, hey, it’s McQueeg’s turn, doncha know.
