Eve of VA GOP Primary, Huckabee Closes-In On McCain:
Survey USA ^ | 2-11-08 | Survey USA

Posted on 02/11/2008 2:50:50 PM PST by dangus

An upset brewing? McCain leads overall, 48-37. Among Democrats, 40-14, and among independents, 40-14. (Someone tell SurveyUSA that only Republicans can vote in the Virginia GOP primary!) Among conservatives, though, (67% of the respondents) Huckabee leads 45-40.

A huge factor is that the Washington Post told Virginians that the race was settled already, in favor of McCain.

Incidentally, if anyone doubts that McCain is taking the GOP nomination because of evil: He leads among liberals, 58-0, among pro-choicers (34% of SurveyUSA's likely voters) 67-20, and among the irreligious 61-24)

Actually, any random name from the phone book would beat McCain among conservatives, because of the 900,000 to one odds that he wouldn’t be John McCain.

Mr. Uncommitted will triumph in the end! Mr. Uncommitted in ‘08!

Just to set the record straight—John McCain is “Mr. Shouldbe Committed” and Hillary is “Ms. Almost Got Beat by Mr. Uncommitted.”

If it ends up Huckabee against Obama we are in serious trouble. The average voter is not very bright, and young & handsome will win over old & toothy every time.

And considering Huckabee isn't even a conservative,THAT is really saying something!

McCain is taking the GOP nomination because of evil...

What a strange thing to say and what a strange way of saying it.

GAG

Between McCain and Huckabee, I’d have to go with Huckabee.

Between McCain and an armadillo, I’d have to go with the armadillo.

Between Huckabee and an armadillo, I’d still go with the armadillo.

You’re criticizing HUCKABEE’s chances against Obama because the voters prefer young, handsome candidates? What does that say about McCAIN ???

McCain and an armadillo both have one thing in common: They both get killed in the middle of the road.

Huckabee is old and toothy? He is 52, only about 4 years older than I am, and 6 years older than Obama. If anything, I would say Huckabee would give Obama a run for his money in debates because the former governor is more articulate and a better speaker than McCain.

They are both Charismatic (the thing is at least huckabee exposes a positive (relatively) conservative agenda!!

It wouldn’t be bad, he could win, but it would be a hard fight!!!

There was no count. Washington state was picking local delegates to the county conventions, where they will pick delegates to the state convention, where they will finally pick real delegates.

THe “count” was just a preference request of those who showed up at the caucus, and in many cases doesn’t reflect the intent of the delegate chosen for the next step.

That’s why they stopped counting. The count makes no difference. They’d do better if they asked the actual chosen delegates who they plan to vote for.
