For Clinton, chickens come home to roost (Super Delegates may NOT stand by Clinton)
Boston Globe ^ | 2/13/08 | Ron Fournier

Posted on 02/12/2008 11:11:45 PM PST by xtinct

For years, Bill and Hillary Clinton treated the Democratic National Committee and party activists as extensions of their White House ambitions, pawns in a game of success and survival.

more stories like this. She may pay a high price for their selfishness soon.

Top Democrats, including some inside Hillary Clinton's campaign, say many party leaders -- the so-called super delegates -- won't hesitate to ditch the former New York senator for Barack Obama if her political problems persist. Their loyalty to the first couple is build on shaky ground.

"If (Barack) Obama continues to win .... the whole raison d'etre for her campaign falls apart and we'll see people running from her campaign likes rats on a ship," said Democratic strategist Jim Duffy, who is not aligned with either campaign.

The rats started looking for clear waters when Obama won Iowa, narrowly lost New Hampshire and trounced Clinton in South Carolina before holding his own in last week's Super Tuesday contests. He won Virginia's primary Tuesday and stood to claim Maryland and the District of Columbia to extend his consecutive win streak to eight.

Obama has won 21 of 33 contests, earning the majority of delegates awarded on the basis of election results. The remaining 796 delegates are elected officials and party leaders whose votes are not tied to state primaries or caucuses; thus, they are dubbed "superdelegates."

I know it's late, but isn't this writing just awful?

Not only is the writing worth criticism, so is the editing. Newspapers and all publications have editors who are supposed to catch and correct such blatant errors. Or, the piece gets pulled. Evidently this paper's editor/s are as inept as its writers.

No two ways about it, Mr. Fournier is definitely doing some personal venting here. As said, he was a staunch MSM shill for the Clintons during reign of Good King Billy and went to the mat for them, and smote their enemies countless times. However, he and the various political hacks who comprise the “superdelegates” are all too aware of the way the Clintons rode the dem party into the gutter through the nineties.

No one feared the Clintons more than the FOB’s and nobody wants to see a fresh face more than they do (as the Bill Richardson anecdote indicates). Everyone who’s studied their records in the Senate can tell you there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between them in their voting records. Barry Obama is the same old back-to-the-future, mindless liberalism with a fresh face and they want to be a part of the winning team.

If she loses ,I wonder if she’ll stay in the Senate. She will be merely one of 50 and won’t have any power. She will simply be a loser. I can she her retiring and jet-setting the world a la Bubba trying to make as much money as possible. If she loses this nomination she’s finished....Glory be.....

While Monica was wrong for messing around with a married man, Hillary made me madder by stomping for sympathy. As if this woman didn’t know of the umpteen other women. I don’t understand how she is the Great Feminist Hope when she does the stand by your man with the numerous affairs.

“Rush is right. 800 of those delegates to the convention are party officials.

How many FBI files do you think Hillary and Bill have on them. It was nice to have the goods on Republican party officials, but it was a mandatory that the Clintons have the goods on Democrats.

They will either give the nomination to Hillary or there will be a huge increase in the number of former Democratic party officials serving time in our prison system.

Hillary will win Ohio and Texas as well as Pennsylvania. ..”

“....With his wins in Virginia, Maryland and The District, Barack Obama is now officially on a roll. If the Clintons can’t find some way to stop him and stop him quickly, the Democratic race may be over much sooner than we thought only a week ago.

Here’s something we know: A Clinton cornered is a very, very dangerous political animal. Obama’s supporters would be wise not to start celebrating too early.”

Regarding their request for emails on the subject, here is what I sent to Fox & Friends this morning:

“Greetings,

McCain will lose unless he picks Romney. Even if we vote for him, it won’t make any difference - very few of us movement conservatives (grass-roots) will work on his campaign. McCain had better wise up fast. We are already planning on drawing up a Declaration of Independence from the Republican Party.” [Even though we will work within the party, itself, to advance the TIMELESS PRINCIPLES that underlie the Reagan conservative/classic liberal message).

Look at your list there and wonder if a certain winning candidate might be added to it at some point. Who knew about his weak liver or that he is accident-prone? And if he is nominated he isn't even safe then, not until election day. Do you suppose he would be naive enough to take her on as VP to keep her from stealing the nomination?

As I've been saying for a few years, I'm worried about VICE President Clinton.
Think of it:

• Two years and one day into her term the first slotter gets arkincided
• Under Article XXII, she can still run for two full terms as the incumbent
• The Glorious Hillary!™ Decade begins
• Hillary uses the Patriot Act to it's fullest extent, and beyond
• At the end of the Glorious Hillary!™ Decade there is a National Emergency "temporarily" delaying the elections
• Under the pressure of the National Emergency, the 2nd and 22nd amendments are repealed
• By the time the National Emergency is over all the 'improved' source code for the touch screen electronic balloting will be in place......

Just as an aside, with the Clinton's well known love of 'ethnics', Obama is very expendable, isn't he?

One of 100.

No. as long as she is able to draw a breath, or screech a single syllable, she will be lusting for ultimate power.

Expect her to run for governor somewhere, leverage that executive experience, and try again. And again. And again.

What was I thinking.
I just don’t see her making another run for the presidency. For one thing, in 4 more years just think what she will look like....ugh!
She’s going to,hopefully, go out of this process, kicking and screaming. It won’t be pretty but fun to watch. Bill will probably become crazier than he is now.

Re your to Don W: Juliet to Romeo: 'Tis but thy name that is my enemy; Thou art thyself, though not a Montague. What's Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot, Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part Belonging to a man. O, be some other name! What's in a name? that which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet; So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call'd, Retain that dear perfection which he owes Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name, And for that name which is no part of thee Take all myself.

Awwwwwwwwwwww fiddlesticks! You... beat me to the punch!
