NEW YORK (AP) - For many black Americans, it's a conversation they find hard to avoid, revisiting old fears in the light of bright new hopes. They watch with wonder as Barack Obama moves ever closer to becoming America's first black president. And they ask themselves, their family, their friends: Is he at risk? Will he be safe?
There is, of course, no sure answer. But interviews with blacks across the country, prominent and otherwise, suggest that lingering worries are outweighed by enthusiasm and determination.
"You can't have lived through the civil rights movement and know something about the history of African-Americans in this country and not be a little concerned," said Edna Medford, a history professor at Washington's Howard University.
"But African-Americans are more concerned that Obama get the opportunity to do the best he can," she added. "And if he wins, most of us believe the country would do for him what it would do for any president, that he will be as well protected as any of them."

I have Larry's book, and I disagree. Both black and white people can be equally as racist.
You asked a question. I gave you an explanation from personal experience. It's understandable that Obama identifies as black because that's how the world sees him. That he identifies as "black" isn't the problem. The problem is his racist views (as is evident by some quotes from one of his books) and the black separatist church he belongs to.
You can identify with a "race" without being racist. I'm guessing you identify as white, right? Or European, or some other "race". Does that make you racist? No.
Seems like I read once somewhere that the nazis had plans to do away with the darker complected bulgarian/romanian southern slav type as well...or maybe they did do away with a few of them. Also, I think glen beck claims that mormons were on the nazi hit list too. I don’t know how many mormons were in europe at that time. Couldn’t have been too many. But if mormons and jehova’s witnesses were on the hit list, then seventh day adventists probably were too, along with mennonites, amish, and other such variations.

Yes, there's some backlash that he isn't "black enough". But, imagine Obama identifying as white. Both white and black voters would laugh him out of the election. "Race" is a social group. There are many "black" people who are far more lightskinned and Caucasian-looking than Obama. Both white and black people consider them black. I wish these divisions didn't exist, but they do. It's a reality that most children of mixed ancestry come up against. Again, I speak from experience here.
There's a difference between identifying as a particular "race" and being hateful toward other people. The problem with Obama isn't that he is considered black (or even half-black). The problem is the evidence suggests he is hateful toward other people.

There is nothing to worry about. This is nothing more than their deep hatred for Whites.
The reality is that millions of Whites are going to vote for him so as to soften their White Guilt, and to feel good about themselves for being inclusive.
But who will "they" riot AGAINST? Because there is only one entity with a huge potential GAIN from his death...the CLINTON campaign! And individuals troublesome to the Clintons have been dying under questionable circumstances for many years.
