The title of this thread been changed to include the word "Hoax" but I don't see that proved by the comments cited.

I hope its a hoax as much as the next guy does, but I'm still waiting for some definitive proof either way.

To me, the fact that the dog sounds like a guy going "Yip! Yip! Yip!" as he flies through the air makes me think its a hoax. But the fact that the guy is in hiding and his family doesn't want to talk makes me worry its not.

“Ah, the crazy vet syndrom.

Our troops are not snapping under the pressure.

You can probably spread that propaganda at DU, but it won’t fly here.

What is your problem??? I am simply explaining why some times people crack under pressure. Basic psychology 101.
Some people handle situations and others can’t.
Don’t put words in my mouth.
Why do you think they have PTS rehab before soldiers go home?
Not easy seeing your best friend getting his face blown off.

Why not save the life of an innocent puppy, and let the abusing cruel inhuman moron about to harm it fend for themselves.

Personally, I think its the perfect time for an SOB POS like that to meet The Almighty. he’d sure have some ‘splainin’ to do....

Not the same markings, but the toy dog could have been switched in and tossed.

Read the full text at the site that sells these fake puppies! The fur comes with variations, since they are handmade!!!

In order to survive, we must all--men and women--steel ourselves to some of the harsh realities of life.

No doubt about that. Even one cup of green tea comes at the price of thousands of lives and the suffering of thousands of other living creatures both man and animal. Being a vegetarian is a choice that may reduce the killing and suffering that is necessary to the maintenance of your life but it doesn't end it and nothing can.

“LOL. What an ignorant, obnoxious post.

I eat meat, btw, but don’t have some perverted knee-jerk reaction to people who are vegetarians. (rolls eyes)”

Why, aren’t you special. heh

I usually don’t either, but I find people who feel it necessary to advertise they’re vegetarian as obnoxious as you apparently find me. ;-)

There’s nothing inherently virtuous about vegetarianism, it’s simply an eccentricity.

“I know meat, fowl, and seafood well. I know them all. I know what wines go well with them. I have hunted. I have killed animals. I have watched them suffer and die. I have witnessed their pain and fear.

Evidently you have also.

I didn’t enjoy it. Did you?

Do you know how calves and lambs are treated when they are prepared for slaughter? Think about it.

I turned away from the dark side and embraced my humanity, and I decided not to continue eating animals and subjecting them, even by proxy, to fear, suffering, pain, and death.

Perhaps if you turned away from the dark side and embraced your humanity, you would cease to devour the flesh of helpless animals and cease to enjoy subjecting them to fear, pain, and death.

Of course, you can do whatever you want. If you enjoy subjecting animals to pain, torture, and death, if you enjoy catching them and witnessing their suffering, you will do that. Obviously, it’s your decision to make.”

I don’t think you’ve understood what you’ve seen, assuming you’ve been out in the wild as you say. Most animals die a brutish, nasty death one way or the other. A clean kill with a bullet or arrow beats starvation, being eaten alive, freezing to death, dying in a dominance match, a fatal disease of some kind, or the countless other ways animals die in the natural world. Most end up eaten one way or the other.

I agree about domesticated animals, in a perfect world all prey would be wild. More humane for the animals, more fun for the humans. Win/win.

“Men are born soft and supple;
dead, they are stiff and hard.
Plants are born tender and pliant;
dead, they are brittle and dry.”

Ah, this poet has quite a sense of humor. Stiff and hard, eh? ;-)

Sex and death, a winning artistic combination every time.

“You’re right, Kh; PL’s post was obnoxious. Obviously it hit a nerve with me, and I posted an obnoxious reply. (Sorry, PL.)”

No worries. I’m in a weird mood today anyhow. ;-)

I fully respect your decision to be a vegetarian. I wish the converse were true on the part of all vegetarians regarding carnivores (and hunters!).

Have a good one, and enjoy your tofu! :-)

Nothing at your Snopes link proves this incident to be a hoax. Did you post the right link?

Yeah, it is ludicrous logic to get bent out of shape for a dog while 35 million children continue on the conveyor belt of death...

It is possible to be concerned about innocent children AND innocent animals.

It’s not either, or.
