John McCain was not my first choice, but he is a good man and will be a good President

Yup. Just like Bobdole.

Countryclub Uber Alles!

Amazing, the way The Stupid Party manages to toss ranced old meat at The Crooked Party each time they run a crocodile. Amazing, the way the crocodile always makes short work of the old meat.

Ah, but... it was his turn, donchaknow. Just like it was Bobdole's turn.

These old bulls get tired, and want to go home (got to empty those pockets sometime), but before that, they want one last turn at bat. They've earned it.

Countryclub rules.

Well, I've never been the countryclub type. Don't even play golf. Not even miniature "golf", LOL!

So, I guess I don't fit in with that crowd. Not that I'd want to, mind you. But, it's good that I've finally gotten it through my head that "my kind" just ain't welcome at The Countryclub.

So, I'll leave. Me, and my vote.

Riddle for The Day:

You are faced with a choice: You are told that you must vote for Ruler of The World. Your choices are Stalin, Hitler, and Mao.

You are told that unless you vote for one of the above, you have no right to complain about things later on.

The question: When you stop laughing at the fool who told you that line of BS, do you 1) turn around and walk away, 2) vomit, 3) tell him to !@#$%@#$%, or, 4) all of the above?

I humbly sign on to Mr. Buckley's philosophy.

Me too, joanie-f! Down to the ground....

This as you quote from Mychal Massie really hits the nail on the head:

Many claim the system is corrupt. I submit it isn't the system; rather, it is the ne'er-do-wells who have been permitted to conscript it.

There's nothing wrong with our constitutional system except the fact that so many people hold it in contempt today, as a "constraint" on their self-aggrandisement and will to power. But of course, that's exactly what the Framers designed it to be -- a check, a limit, a constraint.

Still, if the people are corrupt, then the Constitution is vitiated likewise.

If you want to see a magnificent illustration of this, of how members of the federal government actively collude across branches, aided by the MSM and NGOs, against the constitution and its protections of the American people in a time of war, just take a look at Kenneth Timmerman's new book, Shadow Warriors (2007). I just finished reading it. It is absolutely stomach turning, infuriating....

Thank you so much joanie for this excellent essay-post!

Don’t waste your time. There is a certain group of people who want all or nothing.

You don’t think Dole would have been better for the nation than CLINTON?

Were you around when Reagan said he only had agreed to signing for amnesty because there was supposed to be enforcement along with the amnesty?

Were you around when Reagan said he REGRETTED signing amnesty?

No........?????? Apparently you and McShamnesty are only interested in listening to and doing whatever it is that Benedict Arnolds can do.

"I sure hope I haven't left anything out. : )"

I would say you have captured most of it.

All three candidates (losers all) show you what America has become and how far we have fallen.

Sad...

Wowie zowie!

Are you really that dense? Or are you just trying to twist my words so's y'kin flog a strawman?

It hardly matters if Bobdole would have been better than Slick. He had as much chance of winning as my dog had -- so by the same token, I didn't spend much effort trying to figure out if my dog would've been better than Slick.

PS: Thanks for trying. You earned your $5 today.

No need to get nasty, and you can keep your $5. Most critics of McCain are angry that many voted for him because they think he can beat Clinton and Obama. The Republican party was supposed to vote for the most conservative and not worry about electability.

I didn’t vote for McCain, by the way.

So, I assumed your point was not about McCain’s electability, but about the fact that he is not conservative enough for most of us. I was not trying to build a straw man. I have better things to do, and I don’t like to get into “arguments.”

Well, McCAIN will NEVER get my vote either.
We will really see in November how many of the 25% or more real Conservatives will actually go out and vote. YOU CAN NOT WIN without the base and this is the year that WILL PROVE IT.

I’m taking my conservative values and voting for the Constitution Party - they are pro-life and they are pretty much in-line with my idea of Small government and enforcing the laws. I will not give my VOTE away ever again! That is a vow - I will not vote the the lesser of 2 evils. I will not reward the GOP for destroying the Party of Lincoln and Reagan.
