Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she's pregnant with 5th child and is due sometime in May

Associated Press - March 5, 2008 10:43 PM ET

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her husband are expecting their fifth child.

Palin, 44, wouldn't say whether the child will be a boy or a girl, explaining that she had not shared that with their children yet. The baby is due in mid-May.

She and her husband, Todd, have three girls and a boy, ages 6 to 18. Their oldest, Track, enlisted in the Army last year.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Jane Swift was the nation's first governor to give birth while in office. She had twin girls May 15, 2001.

Palin has been mentioned as a potential running mate on the Republican presidential ticket.

Kids should not be strapped with dopey names. I am a strong believer in kids having traditional names. There are 100s to choose from before you need to name your child Madison or one of those idiotic Gen Y names.

How about Colt, Winchester, Taurus, Smith&Wesson, or Uzi. There are a lot of interesting possibilities out there.

Seriously, the two you mentioned wouldn't be too bad. Kids named such could go by Max and Vick.

Nothing wrong with those as first names, I guess. They certainly would be unforgettable!
I happen to know someone with the surname Vickers, and it's a great name.

I think Ted Nugent named his son Rocco Winchester after the weapon.

How could she possibly be six+ months along without anyone noticing?

I used to work with a guy named Sam Colt, which is funny because the guy was the biggest gun grabber I’ve ever met.

It's amazing how strong the Culture of Death is, even here, at ostensibly "pro-life" Free Republic.

For the record - I'd do just about anything to find me a woman like that.

You are kidding, right?

At 44 with a healthy sexual relationship with her man and she should have gone frigid because she got her paycheck from the treasury? Are you nuts?

She will be out of office for possibly months. I am not crazy. This is not just a job in a bank. She is running a state. She can screw her husband all she wants, but having another child is distracting when she is trying to run a huge state with many things going on.

She can have all the kids she wants, but she wanted this job and now it entails responsibilities and attention. Her duties will be determined by her how her pregnancy progresses, and who knows how long she will be out on maternity leave. The question is, how much does she want the job of governor?

Well, I guess that McCain will just have to pick either John Bolton or Janice Rogers Brown to be his VP running mate(I wish).

“That’s OK....she obviously has a screw loose anyway.”

It’s certainly not obvious to me, or to the voters of Alaska.

LOL

If she like she has been in the past she won’t even miss 2 weeks of work - and even Governor get take a vacation......

The legislature is in session only 90 days this year.

Oh, and she does have a staff - real people, trained and everything....

I live in Alaska, I don’ have an issue with it - glad to see another little Alaskan.

“She’s way too good looking to be VP.”

I never heard of that hurting in politics.

I still think she’d be a good choice for McCain. Being VP leaves almost all your time available for motherhood.
