California Court Rules Homeschooling Illegal

LOS ANGELES, March 5, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com)

Thousands of homeschoolers in California are left in legal limbo by an appeals court ruling that homeschooling is not a legal option in the state and that a family who has homeschooled all their children for years must enrol their two youngest in state or private schools. Justice H. Walter Croskey in a written opinion said, "California courts have held that under provisions in the Education Code, parents do not have a constitutional right to homeschool their children."

The sweeping February 29th ruling says that California law requires "persons between the ages of six and eighteen" to be in "public full-time day school," or a "private full-time day school" or "instructed by a tutor who holds a valid state teaching credential for the grade being taught".

This is just wrong...how much of America’s history is about homeschooling of children?? These are not CHILDREN OF THE STATE, d’oh!!!

Pray for this to be overturned by the SCOTUS!! Because I guarantee you it will be heading there before long! >:-(

In other words, California courts believe that California children belong to the state.

If I lived in CA, I’d seriously consider relocating to another state.

Once again, the Calipetriedish is growing active rot. Will everyone just abandon the state or will they really fight for it?

Combine this with

*legislation protecting teachers who wish to “inculcate a preference for communism”
*banning of “discriminatory language” such as “mom and dad”
*requiring teaching of homosexuality as “normal” and “equally desirable lifestyle”

and you see where they’re going.

The left DEMANDS to indoctrinate your kids, and they WILL get them if you don’t fight back.

Yes, it will be overturned.

But the mere fact that some judge ruled this way needs to be trumpeted far and wide

as an example of what the left wants to do with your kids.

In the meantime is there an order in place allowing them to continue to homeschool?

Flash forward, once they undermine the 2nd there will be no way to revolt. It is their master plan, just like the government devaluing our dollar on purpose to pay off debt but they won’t admit it. They are all socialistic criminals.

"Michael Smith, president of the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), said in a March 3 statement that the organization "strongly disputes this interpretation of California law" and is studying the decision."

Hopefully, they *will* fight. If they don't, and California caves in on this, how long before the rest of the states follow? :-(

So when does the Revolution begin?

I weep for my country. Perhaps we have gone too long without a revolution or a civil war. Lord knows our nation has drifted far from what it was meant to be.

I have long thought that a Constitutional amendment should be put forward that enshrines the right of Parents to:

1) select the education system and method for their children
2) the right to determine the belief system that the child will be raised with
3) the right to determine the associations and friends the child will maintain or distance themselves from
4) the right to determine appropriate punishment for their children so long as such punishment does not cause physical injury requiring medical treatment
