Obama says his pastor 'pained and angered me' 'Denounces' anti-American, racist rhetoric, insists he never heard such talk in person

Responding to mounting controversy over radical anti-American and racist statements by his pastor, Sen. Barack Obama issued a statement today to the Christian Broadcasting Network saying he strongly condemns and denounces remarks by Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. that disparaged the country or degraded people.

Obama referred to the "firestorm over the last few days" from unearthed video segments of Wright's sermons that the senator described as "some inflammatory and appalling remarks he made about our country, our politics, and my political opponents."

The front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination said he was not in attendance when Wright made any of the statements and never heard such talk in private conversations.

"Let me say at the outset that I vehemently disagree and strongly condemn the statements that have been the subject of this controversy," Obama said. "I categorically denounce any statement that disparages our great country or serves to divide us from our allies. I also believe that words that degrade individuals have no place in our public dialogue, whether it's on the campaign stump or in the pulpit. In sum, I reject outright the statements by Rev. Wright that are at issue."

Late today, Wright stepped down from his formal role in Obama's campaign, as a member of his African American Religious Leadership Committee, said the Politico's Ben Smith, citing campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor.

Obama’s definitely in a pickle. There’s no doubt about it.

He's probably set back black politicians fifty years. And to boot, no white person will ever be able to view black people without a certain suspicion that in their hearts they're completely anti-American.

Ladies and gentlemen
On behalf of all the people who have assembled here
I would merely like to mention if I may
That our unanimous attitude
Is one of lasting gratitude
For what our friend has done for us today
And therefore I would simply like to say

Thank you very much!
Thank you very much!
That’s the nicest thing that anyone’s ever done for me
I may sound Double-Dutch
But my delight is such
I feel as if a losing war’s been won for me
And if I had a flag I’d hang my flag out
To add a sort of final victory touch
But since I left my flag at home
I’ll simply have to say
Thank you very, very, very much!

Company
Thank you very, very, very much!

Tom Jenkins
Thank you very much!
Thank you very much!
That’s the nicest thing that anyone’s ever done for me
It sounds a bit bizarre
But things the way they are
I feel as if another life’s begun for me

Company
And if I had a cannon I would fire it
To add a sort of celebration touch
But since I left my cannon at home
I’ll simply have to say

Scrooge
Thank you very, very, very much!

Company
Thank you very, very, very much!

Thank you very much!
Thank you very much!
That’s the nicest thing that anyone’s ever done for me
It isn’t everyday
Good fortune comes my way
I never thought the future would be fun for me
And if I had a bugle I would blow it
To add a sort of ‘ow’s-your-father touch
But since I left my bugle at home
I’ll simply have to say
Thank you very, very, very much

Scrooge
No, my friends, it is I who should be thankful to you!

Company
For he’s a jolly good fellow
For he’s a jolly good fellow

Scrooge
For I’m a jolly good fellow

Company
And so say all of us

Thank you very, very much
(Tom Jenkins: Thank you very much!)
Thank you very, very much
(Tom Jenkins: That’s the nicest thing that anyone’s ever done for me)
Thank you very, very much
(Tom Jenkins: The future looks all right)
Thank you very much
(Tom Jenkins: In fact it looks so bright)
Thank you very much
(Tom Jenkins: I feel as if they’re polishing the sun for me)
Thank you very much
Thank you very much
Thank you very, very, very, very much

And if I had a drum I’d have to bang it!
To add a sort of rumty-tumty touch
But since I left my drum at home
I’ll simply have to say
Thank you very, very, very much!
Thank you very, very, very much!

I believe most people hold their pastors up on a high pedestal, and don't evaluate what they're being taught. They just suck it all in and accept it as God's truth.

Especially if a pastor or church claims the pastor to be "anointed".

Must have really been hard on old O, holding in all that pain and anger in total silence all this time, until the word got out.

Hannity and Colmes just ran the March 2007 interview with "Pastor" Wright.

Wright's statements were outrageous then.

Commercial break now, and in a few minutes they are going to debate the latest from the Obama camp.

1. Romney had to shuck and jive all over creation about being a Mormon, but Harry Reid is one, too. BHO is tap dancing a wee bit about espousing his own racism as part of his religion, and I am not sorry for him at all.

2. You go to a church whose beliefs correspond with yours. You follow church teachings that resonate with you personally. You ask a preacher to marry you/baptize your children when that preacher’s guidance is cherished.

Obama must REALLY hate the White half of himself, but to think White men are such pussies is something I frankly, and with venom, want Obama to keep right on thinking....all the rest of his life. I want BHO to become even more revealed for the racist he is.

Colmes just asked Ari Flesher and Bob Beckel, and Tony Blankley what they think:

Bob Beckel defending Obama, telling us what is moral, and attacking Clarence Thomas!.

The UnAmerican Democrat party believes this BS, every word of it, and they prove it every day.

Hussein cannot be trusted, he obviously is not loyal to the United States.

Obama is supposed to be on Hannity and Colmes coming up next after the commercial break. It will be interesting to hear what new excuse he comes up with this time.

I was thinking that exact same thing. Is that “church’s” sermons broadcast in the Chicago area?

Maybe Barack Obama can trade Jeremiah Wright for Geraldine Ferraro and a first-round draft choice, before the trading deadline. Do you have to clear waivers in this league?

I guess this couldn’t wait until after the primaries. Good going Rush, Hannity, and all the other right-wing talkers, now we have another clinton to deal with.
