Obama says his pastor 'pained and angered me'

Obama says his pastor 'pained and angered me' 'Denounces' anti-American, racist rhetoric, insists he never heard such talk in person

Responding to mounting controversy over radical anti-American and racist statements by his pastor, Sen. Barack Obama issued a statement today to the Christian Broadcasting Network saying he strongly condemns and denounces remarks by Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. that disparaged the country or degraded people.

Obama referred to the "firestorm over the last few days" from unearthed video segments of Wright's sermons that the senator described as "some inflammatory and appalling remarks he made about our country, our politics, and my political opponents."

The front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination said he was not in attendance when Wright made any of the statements and never heard such talk in private conversations.

"Let me say at the outset that I vehemently disagree and strongly condemn the statements that have been the subject of this controversy," Obama said. "I categorically denounce any statement that disparages our great country or serves to divide us from our allies. I also believe that words that degrade individuals have no place in our public dialogue, whether it's on the campaign stump or in the pulpit. In sum, I reject outright the statements by Rev. Wright that are at issue."

Late today, Wright stepped down from his formal role in Obama's campaign, as a member of his African American Religious Leadership Committee, said the Politico's Ben Smith, citing campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor.

Obambi’s so full of sh!t. Wright has been solidly in Obambi’s camp and various campaigns for years. Obambi had even asked Wright to speak at his announcement to run for national office, and only at the last minute “uninvited him” because of the complaints it was starting to generate. But, Wright’s rantings aren’t new. He’s been spouting crap like that for years! There’s no way in hell that Obambi was unaware of this guy’s hateful brand of pulpit rhetoric.

Neither of these men look very "black" to me. They're just two scammers using a drop of blood as career builders.

But, how else can they be full of righteous indignation and act sanctimoniously, while at the same time claiming victim hood?

"You can bet folks were talking about that one for quite awhile."

Of course they were. It made the "Best of" DVD, didn't it?

>> He’s a liar and a not very effective one at that.

Yes, he’s trapped big time.

EITHER he heard Wright spew his filth, PLENTY...

OR he didn’t really go to church much, if at all, that 20 years, like he says he did.

One or the other, Hussein. One or the other.

Obama attended the church for 20 years. I've read he was married by this guy. His children baptized, at least at the church.
Supposedly he inspired the title to Obama's book "The Audacity Of Hope".

Earlier, Obama described his relationship as an uncle.

This doesn't sound as someone who has limited exposure to Wright.

The video getting the most exposure is supposed to be from a video sold at the church, of Wrights greatest sermons, or greatest clips.

I would think that if Wright were like an uncle to Obama, he'd have this video at home. I went to a church that taped messages, and I have quite a few tapes.

Well... maybe he just doesn't go to Church very often. You know, there's a lot of statements, but maybe the good Rev. tones it down on Christmas and Easter and maybe Obama’s not serious about being a Christian, only does it for political purposes so folks don't think he's a muslim or something. And maybe he's just a C&E'er.

I guess that's the message he wants to put out... I guess.

Obama claims Wright wasn’t his political adviser, but his moral and spiritual mentor. So, I guess saying G.D. America and America invented AIDs is political advice.

Didn’t he say he only learned about Wright’s “contraversial” statements when he launched his campaign for president? How disingenous this guy is. How can you attend a church for twenty years led by someone with such radical teachings, run for state and federal office, and not know about those teachings? The church’s position is plastered all over its website.

Hillary’s 130 +/- delegate deficit is looking smaller and smaller all the time. Maybe we’d be better off if Hussein had won TX and OH, really cemented his lead, before all this.

This was being talked about on Chicago radio this afternoon (WLS). Roe Conn, the host, said Obama’s toast in Pennsylvania. No white guy is going to vote for him after this. And he needs the white vote to win.

I agree, but thought to myself, why would a guy and his family go to a church for 20 some years if this is what’s being served from the pulpit? And you disagreed with the view? I left the ELCA some years ago because I didn’t agree with their views on homosexuality. I’m not going to associate with any organization with which I differ in viewpoint.

So, Obama, when are you going to leave the church? Huh? My clock’s still ticking. Until then, you’re just another liar.

Oh, and your pastor’s a bigot. What are you?

He mentions such rantings by Wright in his memoir - “Cruise ships in the Carribbean throw away more food in a day than the average Haitian sees in a year. White people’s greed runs a world in need.” So, he knows all right.

(And the stories my Haitian friends tell me curl my straight blond hair - but don’t have anything to do with white greed.)

He won’t. Obama’s lying. I don’t believe him for a second. He and Michelle believe all this crap being spouted by their pastor. He wouldn’t have been a member for 20 years, given thousands and thousands of dollars, and had hiskids baptized there if he didn’t have a problem with what was being preached.
