Senator Barack Obama on Wednesday won the endorsement of Lee Hamilton, a leading authority on U.S. foreign policy, a boon as he battles Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton for supremacy in the Democratic nominating fight. He also cut into her lead in Pennsylvania ahead of the big upcoming primary there.
Senator John McCain, having locked up the Republican presidential nomination, is taking advantage of the head start that gives him over his Democratic rivals: He said Wednesday that he had begun considering possible running mates and hoped to name one before his party's convention on Sept. 1.
Jen Psaki, an Obama spokeswoman, confirmed the endorsement by Hamilton, who served as co-chairman of blue-ribbon commissions that investigated the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and advised President George W. Bush on the Iraq war, Reuters reported.
"He will officially endorse today," Psaki said Wednesday. Hamilton is not a convention delegate.
Hamilton is a former Indiana congressman and is widely respected in that state, which holds its Democratic primary contest on May 6. The next primary is in Pennsylvania, on April 22.

Hamilton was one of the authors of the Middle East peace plan which essentially promoted that we appease the islamofacist countries by throwing Israel under the bus.
