Daily Kos Attacking Charlton Heston on His Passing

Posted on April 6, 2008

I guess we shouldn’t expect any sense of decorum from Kossacks, but it is pretty lame that they had to unleash their hatred only minutes after the announcement of the passing of famed American actor Charlton Heston. A Daily Kos “diarist” named doriangz started out calling Heston a “gun-nut” and ending with his life and causes being considered “political nutdouchebaggery,” and the incivility just flowed like the opening of a damn from Kos posters’ keyboards after that. Not much respect for a man who’s film career spanned many decades, who marched with Martin Luther King, and fought to uphold our Constitution.

One poster said that Heston tore into the “victims of Columbine,” one Marcus Tullius said he laughed when Jerry Falwell died and that Heston’s death made the world a better place. And Fairy Tale echoed that with a post that said, “Things are already getting better in America” now that Heston was dead. RandySF said that he was sorry but that he “can’t think of anything nice” to say about Heston. Aqualad08 seemed to think that if there were “no guns in heaven” that would make it “hell” for Heston.

And they were just getting warmed up.

Then, we always have to have the “he’s a crappy actor” types like poster jazzmaniac and the ones that have no respect, like ohcanada who said, “As we sow.. I didn’t respect him in life..and I won’t in death.” Then FischFry jumped in to say that he assumed that mention of the Heston film “A Touch of Evil” was really a description of Heston himself.

And, predictably, there is the foul mouthed type that we have all come to associate so specifically with uncivil leftists, too. PerfectStormer posted a loving “So long, motherf***er” when he heard the news of Heston’s death.

But remember, these are the same sort of people who claim that it is they that are the more “compassionate,” more “caring,”, and more “civilized” in our society. Well, if the compassion they displayed for Charlton Heston is any indication, we are in more trouble than we thought… either that or the left has no real compassion at all.

I favor the later, don’t you?

Still, there were several posters that were chagrined by the hate and uncivil postings by their fellow lefties. So, at least some of the Kos posters were sorry to hear of Heston’s passing and upset at the ignorance of the other posters.

But, all the vitriol is sadly to be expected from the more “loving” left, unfortunately. I can only imagine how the media will treat him over the next few days. Who can doubt that their compassion will quickly fade to be replaced by sniping and attacks of this iconic and quintessentially American personality?

Yes, I will agree with you there. But it does amaze me how many FReepers don’t seem to understand the “no profanity” rule when they post. LOL!

There is a positive side to all these class-lacking comments.

1.) The abject hatred being expressed for Heston demonstrates just how effective he was as an advocate for gun rights.

2.) It also demonstrates the high level of frustration that Liberals feel, since gun-control is effectively off the table as a national political issue (thanks to the Dem leaders understanding that gun control cost Gore West Virginia and a few other states, and therefore the Presidency, in 2000).

Overall, the more angry and frustrated they are, the greater the indication that they know they’re on the losing side of the issue. I look at their behavior this morning and don’t feel angry ... I feel schadenfreude.

There are liberals, I know many, that are just lost people who think government should take care of everyone. They have good thoughts but are stupid.
Then there are the DU/KOS types... Filthy, dope smoking low life bumbs that have no life and very bitter about it.

I suppose I still have posting privileges at DU, but always come away feeling sick and dirty, so I don’t even lurk around and read there. It’s like really perverted pornography. It’s been over 2 years since I even took a peek, it’s just too depressing.

They would have mourned his passing, if he had remained a Liberal.

Why does anyone frequent the “Daily Kos”?

Heston was a fine man and a wonderful actor.

I miss him in movies. He had the tough guy persona.

RIP Chuck.

What vile remarks from those people!

I feel sorry for them. It must be difficult going through life with such sick, maladjusted traits. Such bile running through their streams. I thank God that I cannot even fathom what would make a person so bitter and nasty.

Rest in Peace, Charlton Heston, a great American.

I’ve got to be really honest about this…and I’m certainly NOT defending the DU or KOS crowd but…

I’ve read a few pretty hateful and disgusting posts here on FR when some liberal actor, writer or politician has died – things like “good riddance” and “rot in hell” and worse.

While most Freepers offer prayers and condolences, there are some who mark the occasion of a person’s death by sinking to the lowest common denominator and act more like Democrats than they should.

Much to Jim Robinson and our credit, our Admin Mods remove the most offensive comments very quickly.

..Just saying…

I call it Democrat Underachievers for a reason ... in almost every thread there seems to be an undertone that states if you don't ride a bicycle to a menial job or the welfare office, you are an overpaid scumbag and a plague on this planet. It is hard to get a handle on just exactly what ‘overpaid’ means, but I would guess that twice the government stated poverty level is close to the upper limit.

Not many DU posters seem to understand that the folks making minimum wage seldom are business owners with payrolls to meet. They heap scorn on the initiative needed to start and develop a business. Of course the government's touch in all things is necessary. Needless to say, political correctness reigns supreme.

Sad.

I’m sure Heston was told as he entered the pearly gates “Well done good and faithful servant”. Something those over at the KOS will never hear.

BTW, TMZ.com the all things Hollywierd website that breaks news when a celebrity breaks wind doesn’t have a single word about Heston’s passing.

Don’t go back. I just did and this is the first post I read:

“anniebelle Sun Apr-06-08 06:28 AM

123. So glad to hear some good news for a change.

I hope that spreader of misery spends all his glory days around the eternal flames of hell with ol’ Raygun talkin’ ‘bout how they really f***** this country - oh they probably won’t even remember, lol. How about we quit glorifying someone just because they had the good sense to DIE.”

These ‘people’ (loosely used term) can’t see their own hypocrisy or the fact that hate consumes them from inside. They are deranged, violent and uncharitable and seem to think sickness, death and tragedy will never touch them. As much as I think they are pond scum at least I will have pity for them should they experience misfortune.

This is expected.

I will say that at FR, at least we try to self-police ourselves here. Even when someone like Ted Kennedy passes on, I expect there will be those here who will be actually gleeful, but they will be counteracted by those who will attempt to keep things in check.

There are no such restraints at DU or Daily Kos. They display their true nature.
