Dems now estimate convention will bring 50,000, up from 35,000

Organizers for the Democratic National Convention say they now expect some 50,000 people to come to Denver for the event this August.

That number is more than 40% higher than the original estimates.

A spokeswoman for the Democratic Nationals Convention Committee says overwhelming interest in the potentially historic event has driven up the expected participation.

City officials say they are relying on convention organizers for the estimated number of participants, but they hope the increase will mean a larger economic boon for Denver and Colorado than they first anticipated. Estimates for the region's financial gain exceed $150 million.

Katherine Archuleta, the mayor's convention liaison, says the increased estimates are not expected to affect planning or security preparations for the convention.

Were I living in Denver in the first place - I'd be getting outta town come August in the second place.

That's a good idea. Who wants to watch a riot and see their house torched?

Hell. The Redskins draw twice that many to FEDEX Field on a typical Sunday afternoon in the Winter. And they are only marginally less useless than the Demokrats.

Been listening to Rush? He pointed out that the theme music for the ‘68 street beasts, *was*` SFM.

Huh?

“Estimates for the region’s financial gain exceed $150 million.”

I’m thinking about opening up a kiosk to sell rocks to anarchists — maybe call them “Weapons of Modest Destruction,” or something similarly clever. Best site would be right next to the stand selling Che t-shirts. If I could get $1/rock, I should do alright. Even better, maybe open up a subsidiary selling sheets of plywood to ground floor shopkeepers...I’d call them “missile defense shields.” What do you think?

Even if the Hillary campaign doesn’t make it all the way to the convention, and it’s basically an Obama coronation, there will be plenty of hate and protests. Everyone from Free Mumia to Save the Whales will be out, the Guantanamo street theater, the bitter Hillary mob, the radical peaceniks, the Communists and the animal rights groups. Stop the WTO, troops out of Iraq, Palestinians, druggies, hookers and people just looking for a big free party. It’s gonna be a freak show like none other, and they don’t have enough hotel rooms to hold them all. Woo hoo!

I am a Rush listener, but my evil capitalist boss insists I get out of my service truck once in a while and do a little actual work.
I’ll bet Paul Shanklin will have a field day with that tune this summer.

...if the Hillary campaign doesn’t make it all the way to the convention...

I'm thinking this may well turn out to be the case despite Rush's it's-nothing-but-showbiz gimmick, Operation Chaos.

Many of these groups actually have the phrase “1968” in their name. The rat is screwed big time. He thought he could pick up Colorado and ran run the table in November. Now he is double f&*&ed. He will have an unelectable Black socialist with a Muslim name inside the hall fighting the most hated person ever put up by a major party AND crazy socialist scumbags going nuts and embarrassing them outside.
Experts: Please explain to me again how this will be a Democrat year. I seem to have missed your reasoning somewhere.

Just HAD to add this: When you read this doesn't the CSN line “By the time we got to Woodstock we were half a million strong” comes to mind.
If the rat is admitting 15,000 more scumbags will be there and saying it won't affect planning, they KNOW at least 100,000 more hate America scumbags ARE coming. San Fran will be a ghost town that week. I LOVE IT!!!

IANAE but ... keep your eye on Congress. McLame will not have coattails and there are predictions of a better than 80% chance that the Rats will get more than 60 seats in the Senate. That’s home field advantage, my FRiend, since they already own the House. The remaining conservatives will be back-benchers, unable to stop the RATs as we can now. We’re screwed.
