Court refuses to hear FLDS mothers' request All FLDS children in Texas now off to foster care

SAN ANGELO, Texas — The last of the children taken in the raid on the Fundamentalist LDS Church's Yearning for Zion Ranch are now adjusting to life in the foster care system. Escorted by police cars and ambulances, more than a dozen charter buses rolled out of the San Angelo Coliseum grounds Friday, carrying the remaining 260 children toward foster homes.

Small children waved as they went by. Some appeared to be very young; one child was seen holding a bottle.

"It's a good day for them because they're out of this shelter environment and getting to more stable places," said Chris Van Deusen with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. "They're still temporary homes, but it's more conducive to child care."

The departure from the coliseum, which has served as a massive shelter for 462 children and dozens of their mothers in recent weeks, was still emotional. On Thursday, many FLDS mothers were separated from their children.

The children will be heading to foster care facilities and homes scattered across Texas. Mothers are being allowed to stay with tbabies under 12 months of age; the others have been separated.

Meanwhile, attorneys for the FLDS Church threatened lawsuits against the numerous government agencies involved.

...

Meanwhile, parents who have been cast out of the FLDS Church have been coming forward to help establish paternity. Some had no idea their children were in Texas.

"We are hearing from parents who tell us they were forced out of the FLDS, and they believe that their children may now be in DFPS custody," said Rolfe. "We are making arrangements for those parents to submit samples to labs that are close to where they live."

As a gleeful lib coworker said on Thursday, “Good! Now we can go stop those right-wing nuts that (sic) homeschool!”

You should’ve replied, “Why ? Send bright and intelligent homeschooled children to the pubik skrool and have them turn out as ignorant, miserable and brainwashed as you ?”

Of course, that would’ve been too easy.

Oh come on. After some experience in the foster care system, and the 24/7 filth on tv which they will see for the first time in their lives, never mind being trown to the wolves in the public school system; all the horror stories they were told by their multiple parents will seem true.

It's going to be a culture shock for them no matter how you look at it.

They may or may not have been sexually active and abused before but the upset to their homelife and the culture clash they will experience of “liberation” will probably send at least some of them into a promiscuous lifestyle of bad choices and regret as they try to fill the void and seek attention and approval.

Can’t imagine anything worse for a young teenage boy discovering his sexuality to get his first time with some hag public school teacher that makes Helen Thomas look like Adriana Lima.

Pity the ones who end up in crowded inner city schools and foster homes. They'll be all pierced, tatoo'd, mohawked wearing baggy pants talking fluent ebonics and selling methamphetamine and crack in no time I bet.

Hopefully some will land in small quiet rural towns that won't be so much of a shock.

State sponsored child abduction via Class Action. Our government is truly broke when checks & balances on any single branch (in this case judicial) fails.

In court, a judge will consider each of the 462 cases and whether the children should be reunited with their parents, remain in foster care or be placed with other family members.

"All that's going to happen in a courtroom," Van Deusen said. "The judge makes those decisions. We will make recommendations. The children's parents will have input. A judge has to consider all that and decide what's best for the children."

The outcomes of the hearings will be interesting. Hopefully, the courts can untangle the mess they have made out of the situation and get back to protecting the innocent and punishing the perps.

*24/7 filth on tv which they will see for the first time in their lives,*

The kids might be able to write some of the scripts.

“Heather had 10 mommies”

“I was a 14 yr old bride only to share the old coot with 8 others “

“Doesn’t Everyone have have A Husband who is their 1st cousin”

can you imagine how scared those kids are?

I would have been horrified to have been take from my home as a child. My parents were not the best, nor were they perfect. To be removed from their home, I’d blame myself forever.

You know it’s comming...look at the ruling in Cali about homeschooling...

facists never start on hard targets...they allways start with groups on the fringe...groups that no one in the mian stream like...

Cant have people teaching harmful dogma to children...

I would have been horrified to have a man that my parents called prophet trying to man rape me, my single mom wasn't the best, and I know she wasn't perfect, but she never went for this child rape thing. For her to have allowed me to be raped, well, I'm not sure how guilt works related to that.

Yes, and as has been said (sorry, can’t recall who), “One Man’s Brainwashing is Another Man’s Catechism Class.”

Just wait til they come in and prevent the awful conservative parents from “brainwashing” their children into believing an abortion isn’t just a mother’s choice, or that homosexuality isn’t wonderfully healthy.

I mean, it’s important the state steps in to prevent such damage to the morals of the poor, isolated children who will grow up never even getting the opportunity to consider they should strip and flash their knickers in public!

And I was horrified in the so called household I was in as a kid. I would have welcomed fostercare.
