TARPON SPRINGS - Police were called to the home of DC Madam Deborah Jeane Palfrey's mother on Thursday to investigate her apparent suicide.

Police have confirmed that the dead person is Palfrey who was 52.

Palfrey was dubbed "The DC Madam" by the national media after her arrest for allegedly running an upscale call girl ring in the nation's capitol.

I’m not a big conspiracy person, but I AM a woman, and for the life of me — I cannot fathom how a woman like this would kill herself by hanging in a shed for her own mother to find her. Women do pills, not hanging. Even a gun would be much quicker, but isn’t it rare to have a woman kill herself this way? I just cannot wrap my brain around it yet.

BINGO!!!!!!! Women do NOT hang themselves!! Especially not for their MOTHER to find them!!

I wonder (Clinton) who (Clinton) was on (Clinton) that list (Clinton) and if (Clinton) they had anything (Clinton) to do with her (Clinton) death.

I am in agreement that this sounds very odd. While none of us have cited stats as to women hanging themselves, instinctively I don’t think it’s frequent. What bothers me further, is that she was found in a storage shed.
We are assuming that her mother found her. That, however, may not be the case.

I would VERY much like to know the likely time of death, and what time her body was found. It just doesn’t seem likely that storage sheds are entered that frequently. So if she was found rather quickly, that would raise red flags. (Unless, of course, she left a note: Hi Mom. I’m in the storage shed. Love you.)

Also, I wouldn’t have a CLUE as to the proper and effective way to hang myself. Maybe a law student turned Madam does.

Dunno about Lenzner and Palladino’s in jail, but another clinton-era name pops up in this WP article http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story/2008/04/15/ST2008041502159.html?hpid=topnews

Dan Moldea tells the WP that Palfrey told him three times last spring and summer that she’d kill herself before going back to jail.

You’ll recall that Moldea wrote a book about Vince Foster’s death, confirming suicide. He’s also the guy Larry Flynt hired to dig up dirt on Republicans about the time Clinton was getting himself impeached.

As a Freeper since ‘98 I can’t believe how stupid this forum has become. It was the original PJ Media. Now you have to scroll through a hundred “me too” posts to find any insight or additional information.

I've noticed the same thing. It makes me sad because this is one of my all-time favorite sites. It's harder and harder to find insightful threads. The news articles are still good though.

The WP article has more detail. Mom found her when she woke from a nap and went looking for her—which suggests to me that she expected Palfrey to be there and she hadn’t been missing. Noticed a tricycle that was usually in the shed was “moved.” So went in and found her. This was about 11:00 am.

You make a great point, saying: “I wouldn’t have a CLUE as to the proper and effective way to hang myself.” I wouldn’t think most people do. Getting it right is simply not that easy. That’s not to say she didn’t...but the “certain suicide” statement by the police is awfully premature.

Under sentencing guidelines, Palfrey faced 4-6 years.

4 to 6 years in prison. That’s a tumble from the hedonistic heights of madam-hood.

Doubt it was shame that drove her to this. COULD have been though.

Thanks for the WP article. Some better detail, opening more questions. Who leaves at least 2 suicide notes?
You might be on to something with Dan Moldea.

Agreed.

I attribute the steep decline to the numerous 'purges' of dissenting conservatives.

The unfortunate decision to create Moderators was a major turning point.

The dumbing-down herd mentality moves drove off valuable input.

I always liked mixing it up with Ash. Kept my debating skills sharp.

Who leaves at least 2 suicide notes?

Someone who wants to make sure that there's at least one exemplar for the forensic document examiners to confirm it's her handwriting and syntax? "Yep, thats her handwriting all right. See how she makes her a's? Same on both notes."

Hung herself in a shed?? How big was this shed? Death from hanging takes time. Why did her mother know to go to the shed?

The whole thing seems strange. When is the last time you heard of a "shed hanging".

I imagine the suicide note will be easy enough to confirm. Also, if she was killed, why not before all the trial and stuff when the risk of “spilling the beans” was greater? On the other hand, any shed at a trailer park, and to be noted in the article as “small” - must have been pretty difficult to find a place tall enough (or strong enough) to hang herself from.

One other thought - obviously she didn’t want her mom to stop her, perhaps one reason to go to the shed. (Of course waiting for mom to go to sleep would have worked too). But a shed seems like a “guys” place. One would think a woman might like to take a bunch of sleeping pills cozied up with her favorite blanket or something. On the other hand, maybe the shed was where mom did pottery or gardening or something and she found comfort there? Aw - I don’t know!

One last obscure thought. I guess its not like in the movies where the hooker makes tons of money but then is able to buy a nice house for her aging mom, etc. Maybe she just got depressed that she had to stay with mom in the trailer until she got her sentencing!

Whether it was a suicide or not, it is a horrible thing to discover your child dead.

My prayers go out to her family.
