TULSA — Americans fed up with seeing high fuel prices at the pump should take their frustration out on Democrats, Vice President Dick Cheney told a cheering partisan crowd Friday evening in downtown Tulsa. snip "Something that is absolutely critical is for us to produce more oil and gas right here in the United States,” said Cheney, who appeared at a fundraiser for the Oklahoma Republican Party on the eve of its daylong convention today. snip "The problem in Washington is that a lot of our Democratic friends year after year have tried to stand in the way of increased energy production,” Cheney said. snip Cheney was interrupted several times by applause during his address of about 20 minutes.

"I don't care what you say, I'm not running again,” he joked. snip "The obstructionists obviously have prevailed so today we're no closer to ANWR production than we were 10 or 20 years ago,” Cheney said. "The American people are paying the price for that inaction every time they fill up their gas tanks.” snip Cheney blames Democrats for gas pricesRelated Articles snip Vice President Dick Cheney, left, shakes hands with Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Tulsa, on Friday after Inhofe introduced him at a Republican fundraising dinner in Tulsa. ASSOCIATED PRESS snip

Who got to meet the vice president? About 400 people attended the Oklahoma Republican Party's banquet in downtown Tulsa. Before the dinner, which cost $100 a person, Cheney met with smaller groups who paid a higher sum to get closer contact with the vice president. snip About 25 paid $10,000 apiece to attend a roundtable talk with Cheney. snip Between 35 to 40 paid $1,000 each to have their picture taken with him. snip

Why is it so many airhead liberal voters can not see what most common sense conservatives have known for 20 years?

You answered your own question. :)

So where was the drilling When the R’s ran congress?

Truckers are who needs help the most. Their cost's really hurt the general public the most.

The biggest problem is the weak dollar. Anwar has too much sulfur for diesel. Need lots of that Texas sweet crude.

Yep....we always go back to that weak dollar. Its been the Bush administration pushing it....hoping to sell US products cheaper...but I don’t much of that across the economy...just lots of foreigners showing up to buy US property and businesses.

Thanks for pointing that out about the cheering partisan crowds vs liberal speak.

I believe the liberal reporters usually saying a large enthusiastic crowd of several individuals yada, Dada, Mada, Nada, Sada.

Only 20 Years? Thomas Jefferson had our current situation pegged when he said, “Were we directed by Washington as to when to sow, and when to reap, we should soon want for bread”.

“Were we directed by Washington as to when to sow, and when to reap, we should soon want for bread”."

That Tommy Jefferson was one smart dude.

Thank you for that quote.

Yup. When I recognize this lack of leadership, guts, brains, and commitment on the part of the R's I'm no longer a staunch Republican supporter. I vote that way out of necessity only. I have very little respect for the party as a whole. Thompson, Hunter, King, and a few others are the good guys. The rest are mostly gutless, worthless, spineless morons.

Shoot, we can't even convince the Republican Nominee for President, John McCain, of doing the common-sense thing with respect to ANWR.

Do you really think the GOP is going to push this once John McCain is President?

Those of you who are going to vote for John McAmnesty are going to look back on that decision and really regret it.

And it won't take very long, probably within 6 months of being sworn in, ol' Mr. Maverick is going to do what he does best and side with the Democrats on issues that are central to conservatism.

actually, the senate voted for drilling ANWAR in 2005 and it was removed during House-Senate conference committee.
The house also voted for the drilling in 2005 and their version also met the same fate.

then came the 2006 elections...

Democrats blocked drilling by filibustering it in the Senate. The GOP tried.

I believe that the “Green Reds” have so jumped the shark on the easily and regularly debunked man-caused global warming fraud that all environmentalist leftists have finally suffered a decisive loss of credibility in the eyes of the general public—especially as the gen-pub is being royally screwed by the high gas prices caused by their socialist anti-American agendas.
Even Pee Wee Herman hiding in a closet (we all know what HE was doing in their)waiting for some woman to change a lightbulb so he can push GE swirly lights)can’t stop the green bleeding.
Cheney is simply riding the current populists (naturally unreported by the MSN) wave of revolt against wastfull and expensive enviro junk science.
There’s more to follow.

I wonder why the VP did not mention that John McCain voted against drilling in ANWR?

Oh, no you don't!

Start teaching classics - Plato, Blackstone... heck, throw Bunyan in there too - and students will be exposed to the same stuff that influenced people such as the founding fathers. Those same students might then develop critical thinking skills, and once that happened, the global left's indoctrination loop would be threatened.

No, 'tis far better to inject students with Al Gore quotes and lies about W.E.B. DuBois than give them unexpurgated Thomas Jefferson or the truth about George Washington.

you wrote: “So where was the drilling When the R’s ran congress?”

It was vetoed by Clinton and then the Royal 100 Club Left wing Democrats would not let the drilling bill pass as they had over 40 votes.

The democrats and the anti-American tree Huggers are responsible for the oil and gas problem since they will not allow drilling and will not allow new gas refirinies; Our import of gasoline (NOT OIL) is as follows:

Source: U.S. Imports by Country of Origin
Imported Barrels of Gasoline for 2007:
1. UK 25.147 Million
2. US Virgin Islands 23.590 Million
3. France 11.209 Million
4. Canada 10.605 Million
5. Netherlands 10.518 Million
6. Norway 8.406 Million
7. Germany 8.351 Million
8. Russia 7.387 Million
9. Italy 7.239 Million
10. OPEC Countries 5.516 Million

TOTAL 117.968 Million Barrels
Gallons: 6,488,240,000 BILLION Gallons
Daily Average: 17,776,000 Million Gallons
