LAUREN RICHARDSON - YOU CAN HELP!
By Judie Brown

It has been a source of ongoing sadness to read of the difficulties Lauren Richardson’s father has had over the course of the past several months. For those of you who are not familiar with her case, Lauren overdosed on heroin on August 28, 2006. She suffered oxygen deprivation and, as a result of the overdose, is now in a coma and unable to speak out for herself. At the time of the overdose, Lauren was expecting a baby. Her parents honored what they knew would have been her wish and did all they could to keep her healthy and comfortable until the child was born. Today, though Lauren may not be aware of it, she is the mother of Ember Grace, who was born in February 2007.

Since the birth of her daughter, Lauren remains unable to speak of her concerns, but she has a loving father who is doing all he can to protect her from suffering the same fate as Terri Schiavo. However, Lauren’s mother, who has been named her legal guardian, is sadly not of the same opinion and is working with attorneys to pressure the courts to permit Lauren’s starvation.

Lauren’s father has kept hope alive, even at times when there appeared to be no hope in human terms. Lauren’s father is a man of hope in Christ and is dedicated to spending every breath he has on defending Lauren, regardless of what it might cost him in physical exhaustion and worldly goods. The most recent update for those concerned about Lauren tells us the following:

We struggle at times as we seek to share with the public the details of what is happening with Lauren because of the disagreement we have with Lauren’s mother. We cannot understand her reasoning in refusing a path of hope, healing and restoration for Lauren and insisting on causing her death by withholding food and water from her. The issue in Lauren’s case is the eternal truth that all people, no matter what their medical condition, bear the image of God and deserve basic care and an opportunity to be restored to health.

Bobby Schindler, Terri Schiavo’s brother, has written about Lauren in an editorial earlier this year, "False Compassion," and is working closely with Lauren’s father in order to provide expertise that he is uniquely qualified to share during a trying time like this.

There are many links on the Life for Lauren web site that will assist you in tracking this case and learning who is supporting Lauren’s ongoing care and who is opposing it. More importantly, there is something you can do to express your concerns.

ACTION NEEDED NOW

The governor of Delaware, Ruth Ann Minner, is being asked by pro-life Americans across this nation to intervene in this case in order to save Lauren from what many fear is an imminent court order dictating that Lauren be starved and dehydrated to death. I am asking you to be one of those who communicates your passionate belief that Lauren’s life is sacred and deserves to be protected from those who would order her death. The governor’s e-mail address is governor.minner@state.de.us.

Further, it would mean a great deal to Lauren’s father, Randy, if you sent him a copy of your e-mail to Governor Ruth Ann Minner. Randy’s e-mail address is Lifeforlauren@aol.com

During a recent visit to Anchorage, Alaska where Bobby Schindler was invited to speak, he told a reporter from The Catholic Anchor, "Once we accept that killing is an acceptable answer to human suffering, we lose any type of parameters. Euthanasia is a form of abandonment. It is not compassion."

Truer words were never spoken. As I frequently tell people who argue that we pro-lifers are being heartless and cruel for fighting to defend the rights of a "hopeless case," "God is the author of every human being’s life, and He has never given permission to a single one of us to arbitrarily rob another human being of life for any reason including disability or illness."

As Flannery O’Connor once wrote on the subject of false compassion, "In the absence of faith, we govern by tenderness. And tenderness leads to the gas chamber."

Lauren Richardson is not terminal – she is severely disabled. Lauren Richardson should not be murdered.

Judie Brown is president of American Life League and a member of the Pontifical Academy for Life.

I can think of some names for that critter too but “lion” isn’t one of them. But then I would have to wash my mouth out with soap. After all the years, the case of Mary Jo still haunts me, and builds in me anger. It is as if he sold his soul to the devil.

When Crist was FL AG, had Terri been a man, he would have put his civil rights dept right on it. He hates women unless he needs one on his arm to legimitize him as a real man. A real man would have protected Terri.

Haleigh Poutre update...

SPRINGFIELD - The state's newly appointed child advocate, Gail Garinger, is scheduled to attend the opening session of a two-day child safety conference at Western New England College this morning.

~Snip~

Garinger also said she believes the highly publicized case of Haleigh Poutre, the Westfield teen-ager who was the victim of child abuse, "was one of the factors that played in" to the creation of the child advocate position.

Poutre, 14, was hospitalized in September 2005. She was in a comatose state with severe brain injury. She began breathing on her own around the beginning of 2006, and the state then ended its plans to remove her from life support.

Hmmm, trying on heavier loafers... I speculate, could the gf be Hillary or Huma? Excerpted from The Carpetbagger Report with link to the Puffington Host.

...............................

The Huffington Post noted a report today that suggests the Republicans are already working to diffuse those rumors.

How interested is Florida Governor Charlie Crist in being John McCain’s VP runningmate? So much so that veteran GOP dirty trickster Roger Stone — who coordinated a few dirty stunts in support of Crist during the 2006 gubernatorial campaign — is quietly peddling a so-called “Charlie Crist sex tape.” That’s what Stone called it during a telephone conversation. And no, it is not a tape of Crist having sex with a guy. In fact, it isn’t even X-rated. The video was seemingly staged to kill the rumors that Crist is gay.

Stone claims the tape — which he discussed recently with Politics1, but didn’t show to us (”I’m saving it for the national shows”) — “shows Charlie fooling around in a hotel elevator with his girlfriend … They’re making out.” Adds Stone: “It was captured on a security camera in the elevator” last month. And Stone just conveniently happens to have a copy of the hotel’s elevator surveillance tape, just when Crist’s name is in play for the VP spot. Hmm. As for Crist’s purported girlfriend — presuming it is the same one he took as his date to the White House Correspondents Dinner in DC a few weeks ago — she’s still married (and not to Crist). Disclaimer: Always be skeptical of anything from Stone.

Alabama leftists deliver the Goebbelesque propaganda line again, that decent Americans wanted innocent Terri dead and abhorred those who would try to aid her. We see this lie over and over, shouted at us so one day we will all believe the lie to be the new truth.

In their heyday, Alabama's GOP congressmen joined their colleagues in interjecting themselves into one family's life-and-death squabble in the case of Terri Schiavo, a personal matter involving a Florida family wrestling over a loved one left incapacitated by illness. Meanwhile, they've let slip away opportunities for rational immigration reform that would make a difference for thousands of families............

Redux of technique I just posted above as they carve the new lie into granite. Alas for them, granite is only destructible stone, while truth endures...

A few months after Wasserman Schultz arrived in Washington, a political furor erupted over Terri Schiavo, the Floridian who had been in a persistent vegetative state for 15 years. Schiavo's family wanted her to be kept alive by feeding tube. Her husband wanted the tube removed, claiming this is what she would have wanted. Wasserman Schultz was thrust into the role of Democratic spokeswoman not just because she had dealt with the Schiavo question when it came up in the Florida Legislature in 2003 but because she had recently had a personal experience similar to the Schiavos' — her husband's aunt had also been kept alive through feeding tubes, which the family decided should be removed.

Only two months after she was sworn in to office, Wasserman Schultz found herself on national news programs such as The Today Show opposing soon-to-be House Majority Leader Rep. Roy Blunt. "My family had to go through this exact same decision, and they would have found it incredibly offensive for Congress or any legislative body to insert themselves into our family business," she told anchor Ann Currie. "And if it could happen to Terri Schiavo's family, it could happen to any of us."

Foiled again, the used parts industry is denied...

Thread by wagglebee.

CHARLESTON, West Virginia, May 27, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A Virginia family was shocked but relieved when their mother, Val Thomas, woke up after doctors said she was dead. 59 year-old Mrs. Thomas, while being kept breathing artificially, had no detectable brain waves for more than 17 hours. The family were discussing organ donation options for their mother when she suddenly woke up and started speaking to nurses. Ethicists have strongly criticised developments in organ donation criteria that would have made Mrs. Thomas a candidate for having her organs removed before she woke up.

At 1:30 am Saturday May 17, Mrs. Thomas' heart had stopped beating and she had no pulse when the family called paramedics. She was without a heartbeat or oxygen for 15 to 20 minutes before being put on a ventilator and transported to a Charleston, West Virginia hospital.

An attempt was made to lower her body temperature but her heart stopped three times causing doctors to estimate that her chance of survival was less than 10 per cent. The ventilator was kept running for nearly 18 hours and rigor mortis had set in while Mrs. Thomas' family considered organ donation. The decision was taken to discontinue life support but ten minutes into the process, Mrs. Thomas moved her arm and began speaking to nurses..........

Thread by 2nd amendment mama with thanks for the ping to Sun. South Carolina would be blessed with such a candidate.

........................

The one candidate that really stands out to me out of the three, however, is Katherine Jenerette. A history professor, mother of four, and a second lieutenant in the army reserves, I think Mrs. Jenerette is the total package that disgruntled conservatives and others disoriented with the Republican Party are looking for. Read and learn:

She said she decided to run for Congress partly out of frustration of how Republicans squandered their congressional majorities.

“We had the playing field, and we fumbled,” she said. “We spent like drunken sailors. We left the party platform behind.”

Jenerette said she favors a federal hiring freeze and the Fair Tax, a plan to eliminate the income tax by significantly raising the sales tax. She said her service in the U.S. Army Reserve would make her an important voice on national security issues.

As for the Iraq war, she said, “We can sit here and be Monday morning quarterbacks. We’re there because of our national interests. We’re there because of oil. What angers me is how we’ve made it into a political football.” She said she supports U.S. Gen. David Petraeus in Iraq and would pounce on his critics.

Jenerette said education is a big issue with her, and she would push to abolish the federal No Child Left Behind Act. “It’s created a nightmare bureaucracy for our schools.”

If It's Reagan Principles You Want, Katherine Jenerette Is Your Gal

Human Life Amendment Signatures Certified –
Historic Amendment Officially on November's Ballot

Denver, Colorado – May 29, 2008 – For the first time in US history, the
issue of personhood will be decided in the public forum by a
constitutional amendment. Colorado for Equal
Rights has been notified by the Colorado Secretary of State's Office that
enough valid signatures were submitted to put the Every Human is a Person
amendment on the November 2008 ballot. The Secretary of State's Office's
random sampling indicated that there were 103,377 valid signatures,
surpassing the 76,047 valid signatures that
were required.

"The people of Colorado have spoken, the Secretary of State's Office has
certified our signatures, and our equal rights amendment will be on
November's ballot," stated Kristi Burton, initiative sponsor. "All humans
should be protected by love and by law, and this amendment is a historic
effort to ensure equal rights for every person."

Colorado for Equal Rights has demonstrated an unparalleled grassroots effort
thus far, with likely more volunteer circulators than any other ballot
initiative in the State's history. The grassroots initiative had over 1,300
volunteer petition circulators.

"We at Colorado for Equal Rights are incredibly thankful for our many
volunteers who worked so hard for each signature we delivered to the
Secretary of State's Office and the churches who stood behind us and
supported us," Burton continued. "This victory is the voice of the people
and all credit goes to our Creator"

While on the same link as above, check out how a really effective protest can work. It is the article just above.

May 28, 2008 Joris Brinkerhoff planned to treat Planned Parenthood contributors to an evening of good food, good drink, and good music in hopes of raising big bucks for the abortion industry. Joris owns a 5 million dollar home that backs up to the elite Denver Country Club. The setting was beautiful, the night was gorgeous and the pro lifers were magnificent.

Attendees were greeted outside the entrance to the mansion by a bloody abortion doctor wielding broken and bloodied dolls while he thanked them for their help to kill the babies. " It's a big job, I can't do it all by myself, he chided. Thanks for your help." Next they had to drive through an archway that read "Baby Killers". They were stunned to say the least. Some drove by the entrance, but faithful pro lifers directed them back to the "Baby Killers" gate. If by chance they made it around to the back entrance they were met with another incredible street scene including a huge truth truck, protesters holding graphic signs and sidewalk art.......

Close call in Oklahoma for another Terri...

............................

NORMAN, Okla. Terri McHugh calls her husband Mike her hero.

That’s not surprising — because Mike saved the life of his 52-year-old wife one cold evening last December.

Terri told the riveting story last Thursday on the couple’s 27th wedding anniversary. Mike provided notes from his recollections in an e-mail he wrote in January detailing the events of that evening.

Mike and Terri were packing Dec. 21, 2007, for a long-awaited Christmas vacation and sat down for a dinner of hamburgers with his son David and David’s girlfriend Sheena, who were going to house-sit for them while they were traveling. Mike works for Halliburton and had been on-call for the past seven Christmases, so it was a highly anticipated vacation.

Suddenly, Sheena called out for Mike that something was wrong with Terri, in a voice that let everyone know that she wasn’t kidding.

Terri was leaning back in her chair as if she were looking at the ceiling, suddenly passed out cold...................

~Snip~

But she survived, with no brain damage. That was especially gratifying after she and Mike realized that sudden cardiac death was what caused Terri Schiavo’s brain damage. Schiavo’s case garnered national attention when her husband fought to have her life support terminated in 2005, after an extended court fight with her parents.

A second chance: Woman survives sudden cardiac death

California dreaming...

Thread by wagglebee on the latest perceived victory of death over life in that place once known as an American State.

SACRAMENTO, May 29, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - An assisted-suicide bill that allows doctors and nurses to suggest death by unconscious dehydration has barely passed the California State Assembly.

AB 2747 would authorize total sedation without nutrition and hydration for depressed and confused patients, whether or not their natural death was imminent. The bill would also allow family members to order the death of a mentally disabled person when a nurse opines they have less than a year to live, similar to Terry Schindler Schiavo's death at the hands of her husband..........

We posted yesterday on the Kansas Governor and her affection for the serial killer, Tiller. More follows in a thread by wagglebee.

WICHITA, KS, May 29, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In early April, 2007, late-term abortionist George R. Tiller and his entire abortion clinic staff was honored by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius at a lavish secret party held at Cedar Crest, the Governor’s mansion. In response to photographs published by Operation Rescue this week, Gov. Sebelius’ office has released what Operation Rescue is calling a “laughable” defense, saying that the Tiller party depicted in the photographs was a prize in a charity auction in which Sebelius had no control over who would attend.

OR obtained the set of 27 photographs from a confidential source that told OR the party was held exclusively in Tiller’s honor. Tiller and his staff were the only guests invited to the gala event that featured, according to the source, a menu of steak and lobster....
