And now that airplane sits in the boneyard...its crew either transitioned to other airframes or released from the service.
That was a HELLUVA fighter!
Oh yeah, I want one of those
Plane Porn!!!!!
until they landed....then you had to have an ample supply of 55 gallon drums on wheels to catch the hydraulic fluid leaking out of them.........
I had family that worked for McDonnell-Douglas, and so I’m a fan of the Hornets... but I also worked with Tomcats back in the day, and for range, speed, weapons load, and power projection, there’s no comparison. The Turkey ruled the waves, and it’s missed greatly today. A Super Tomcat against a Flanker I’d feel good about. But a Super Bug vs. a Flanker? That makes me nervous.
..oh yea..about the vid I posted..ya might want to TURN DOWN the volume...jeeez
HooRah to the Raptor!
I wonder if the photographer is related to Ensign George Gay, who had a front row seat at the battle of Midway.

Any relation?

Post or FReepmail me if you wish to be enlisted in or discharged from the Navair Pinglist.
This is a medium to low volume pinglist.
I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one to have that thought.
You can add “Sir Retired” to the list...
Tomcat is still the sexiest fighter, ever.
Sir Deactivated. The next time our pilots see these in the air it'll be when they shoot down the 20 old ones that Iran currently has in service.
Did not an Ensign John Gay fly a torpedo plane in the Battle of Midway?
