US Senator Edward M. Kennedy, the veteran lawmaker from Massachusetts who is the last surviving brother in the legendary Kennedy family, has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, his doctors said today.

Specialists in Boston and around the country said the information released indicated that Kennedy has terminal cancer and might have only a limited time to live.

I believe Stalin and Hitler were Christian.

Nope. They both started out life that way, but that's it.

My girlfriend’s uncle lasted exactly 1 year from his diagnosis..they initially thought his was a stroke too. Kennedy has 18 months at the most I reckon.

Brain specialist from Albany Medical Center said on radio today he has the IV type which has a tough prognosis, 12-16 months perhaps.

One of my favorite college professors got sick while he was teaching my class on entrepreneurship and within weeks he had deteriorated to the point that he could not see or speak and was gone shortly there after. I do not wish this on anyone. It is more difficult for family and friends as there is little they can do but watch their loved one slip away. I hope that the Senator will pray while he can and get his spiritual house in order.

Oh my. My heart goes out to you.

One positive outcome for Senator Kennedy's situation is that it brings focus to this devastating disease.

Lee Atwater also died from a Grade III glioblastoma, 12 months after his diagnosis following a seizure. He was 40 years old.

It is pretty well established in the literature that there is no cure for this condition once it manifests in a seizure (often, the patient’s first true symptom) and no way to predict future seizures which leaves Sen. Kennedy with the choice to remain in the arena until he can no longer be useful or to step down and lead a life of self-confinement.

If he remains in the limelight, his presence on stage will drown out the small nonsense of the day and may even remind people of this short play in which we all act out our parts; during this unscheduled intermission the characters should all take the time to reflect on the fact that they too, are but a part of the audience.

Sometimes, the Fat Lady sobs.

As much as I detest the man, I would not want this to happen to anyone.

Prayers for his family but not for him.
I hope he explains to Mary Jo when he finally goes up to the big house (that’s if he goes there) why he left her to die.

At the first breath of life as in death, all men are equal.

A man is not judged by how he died, but how he lived.

Thanks, I never knew that about him. Prayers for him and his family. His wife is from my hometown, she was always a really nice person.
