McDonald's Fries Are Now McHealthy
FOX ^

McDonald's french fries are now trans-fat-free in all its restaurants in the United States and Canada, the fast-food restaurant chain said Thursday.

McDonald's has lagged other restaurant operators in switching over to a zero-trans-fat cooking oil out of worries it would compromise the taste of its trademark fries. It has been under increasing pressure from consumer advocates and some public officials to make the change.

You evil, meat eating, animal slaughterer! How dare you even think of ordering a Big Mac! Don’t you know the legacy of cruelty you are perpetrating?

I know where I’m getting lunch today. Maybe if I get two large fries I’ll be extra healthy. If I throw in an apple pie, I should be able to lift a car!

They still don’t taste as good as they did back in the day when they were fried in what I believe the company called Fomula 47, which was 97% beef fat.

Now those were good eating.

Maybe this is why the fries lately have not tasted as good. I try not to eat fast food too much, but when I do lately, you can tell there is a difference. Just isn’t as tasty, probably because the health nannies are after the industry. Wouldn’t surprise me if their sales go down.

Their fries taste like crap. I get a wierd chemical after taste so I’ve just quit going. I used to love their fries but ever since they’ve started wearing kneepads for the food natzis I’ve been going somewhere else. Their old deep fried cheery and apple pies were excellent with a cup of coffee in the morning.

Whataburger is where I go now. I’ve discovered they have the deep fried pies and haven’t kissed the A$$hole of the food natzis.

Yes, they are just generic french fries now. There is no special reason to go into McDonald's anymore. They just serve generic slop like so many others.

Oh, we may live longer but life won't be as much fun after the food police get finished.

The last time I checked, nobody was being FORCED to go into McDonalds and eat the old version which tasted a LOT better.

“Bring back Lard”

Saturated lard is much healthier for deep frying than any of the unsaturated fats the article mentions being used. Another good choice is coconut oil. Unsaturated fats oxidize when heated in the presence of oxygen. But of course CSPI bullied McDonalds into getting rid of their saturated fats for supposed “health” reasons. My advice is to make your own french fries at home, and use lard or coconut oil.

I agree about the weird chemical taste. I’m allergic to canola oil, can only use lard, corn oil, olive oil, or soy oil (soy oil tastes funny, but doesn’t cause a reaction for me). McDonald’s USED to be a guilty pleasure, no more, the food tastes awful, even if you leave out the fries. Where do they get their beef, anyway? Or is it mystery meat?

Meanwhile...an additional 800mg of sodium has been added to each fry.

The heck with coconut oil: connoisseurs know that the perfect french fry is made in PEANUT OIL. . .

Here in my area is a new chain called Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Very simple menu, just burger/ cheeseburger/ baconburger/ bacone cheeseburger, plus fries and drink.

They use peanut oil for their fries and everything tastes good.

I get fries at McDonalds occasionally. It depends on who's on duty - sometimes you get almost no salt and other times you gag on it.

I don't know why they just give you a pack of salt and let you salt it yourself.

They also taste like cardboard now. They must have changed their breakfast sausage too because now it tastes like cardboard too. I switched from Sausage Egg and Cheese biscuits or Sausage Egg McMuffins at McDonalds to Sausage Egg and Cheese Croissantes at BK.. That’ll show ‘em.
