moveon.org anti-McCain ad
TV

Posted on 06/24/2008 4:56:19 AM PDT by moonman

I saw on Fox News the new moveon.org political ad which attacks John McCain's stance in Iraq. A young, whiney, needy and neurotic looking white mother holding a 2 month old white baby, telling John McCain that he wasn't going to get her child to fight in a 100 year war. Typical 'moron.org' fanfair.

Forget about what John McCain said about our possible presence in Iraq and/or Middle East for the next 100 years, let's look at the ad itself.

There will be at least 2-3 Presidents AFTER John McCain before this child is old enough to even VOLUNTEER for military service. Being raised for 18 years by this woman, 2 questions arise in my mind: Would this child ever be motivated and patriotic enough to serve his country in a military capacity and who would want to be next to him in a foxhole?

Very misleading ad. Just because we have a presence in other countries doesn’t mean we’re “at war” with them or that those stationed there will be in harm’s way daily. I’ve seen this commercial about 20 times already and it angers me every time, do to its brazen dishonesty.

McCain never suggested a 100 year war, he suggested we might have a 100 year presence, just like we have in Europe and elsewhere throughout the world.

I saw the ad on Fox News also.

Typical of whiny dems, scare everybody in to voting their way “The Republicans are going to take your SS check” BS.

As for your question about the child being fit enough to volunteer for service — look at Cindy Sheehan’s son.

Despite her being a total idiot, I appreciate and admire that young man for what he did for this country. So, yes, idiots can raise good kids, and many times do, as they rebel against their parents’ ignorance.

When has “truth” ever mattered to the left? Repeat the lie, repeat the lie, repeat the lie and soon the gullible(which is the group they are aiming their ads at) will believe it. Why doesn’t the MSM call this “swift-boating McCain”? Maybe someone should sue move-on for false and misleading advertising.

Fox didn't “play” the ad as a commercial...the Friends had on Bill Kristol to discuss the ad so they showed it during the segment. Bill did a good job blasting Move On calling the ad selfish and misleading and defended parents, especially mothers, of our young men and women fighting today.

the best parody of the ad is Andrew Wilkow’s on satelite radio.

Every ad that MoveOn.org puts out must be questioned in terms of who appeared in the ad? What connection do they have to the organization? In this case, was this in fact the mother of the baby? Questions like these and others need to be asked and answered to ensure accuracy and fairness during what will be one of the worst hyperbole elections in our nations history.

The point is moveon.org plays to a crowd of zombie morons who believe their every word. Their listeners wouldn't know the truth if it hit them between the eyes. As someone one wrote moron.org should be the real name of the site.

Cindy’s son was not raised by her...he was raised by his father and stepmother. Cindy used his death for her political rantings.

Thanks. I did not know that.

Maybe that explains why he turned out so well!!!!

There also are thousands of guys in Iraq and Afghanistan that came from broken homes, without fathers, and mothers. I have a friend who is spec ops in Afghanistan now, and he came from humble beginnings, with a lack of father or mother.

I do know many young people (in their 20s), produced by flaky parents, and are ALL conservative, patriotic, and very anti abortion. It really is encouraging to know many (although not all) of the current generation is turning away from the teachings of my generation (free love, no responsibility, abortion advocates).

This is not true - Casey was raised by Cindy and her husband, Casey's father. This rumor got started when a woman in a similar situation as Cindy's appeared on O'Reilly's show because Cindy refused an invitation to appear. As much as I can't stand Cindy, it was the other woman, not Cindy, who didn't raise her son.

That “mother” was a professional actress. The baby was from the prop department.
