Obama: Iran Needs to Know We Mean Talk by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace

(2008-07-10) — Democrat presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama today faulted the “weakness of the Bush administration” for Iran’s recent long-range missile testing, and said when he sits in the Oval Office “Iran will know that we mean talk.”

The Illinois senator said he would engage Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in face-to-face negotiations offering “carrots as well as sticks,” meaning that he would “reward Iranian goodwill gestures with stirring laudatory speeches, and punish Iran’s violations of U.N. resolutions with bold rhetorical rebukes.”

“We know that President Ahmadinejad wants to see Israel wiped off the face of the map,” said Sen. Obama, “Of course, the first step in negotiating is to determine what the other party wants that you might be able to provide”

“Iran needs to know that our words mean something,” he said. “During the Obama administration, our words will mean that we are saying things by combining those words into sentences to express ideas about how we feel, using dramatic phrases and dynamic cadences. Iran must never question our resolve to deliver…speeches.”

While the Bush administration has tried to get allies to unite in applying pressure on Iran to halt its nuclear program, Sen. Obama said he would bring change to American foreign policy by trying to get U.S. allies to unite in applying pressure on Iran to halt its nuclear program.

“It’s a lot different than the Bush approach,” he said, “because in my strategy, there is no Bush.”

As a last resort, he will include hand gestures and...God forbid...harsh shouting.

Obama will fly to Tehran for talks with President Ahmadinejad and return on Air Force One waving a paper and proclaiming peace in our time. We all know how well that worked the last time a naive politician tried to make a pact with a dictator.

Isn’t Scrappleface supposed to be satire? Sad reality is that this is more than likely what an Obama Administration would do.

This would be laughable if it were not so deadly serious.

Obama can't grasp, or will fail to acknowledge, due to his own anti-American and marxist tunnel vision, any of the following points regarding the war in Iraq and the impact on Iran:

McCain called for an got the surge strategy in Iraq...and it is clearly working.

Going into Iraq was no mistake. An abject tyrant, and friend to our enemies, was brought down and tens of millions of people given an opportunity for liberty. Besides, look at a map. We have Iran, the largest state sponsor of terror hemmed in on three sides. Iran can not got to the bathroom without us knowing about it and being able to do something about it. And they know it, and that geo-political reality is no accident.

The terrorists are hiding in holes, or dying when they come out and are unable to attack us here. They fear our remote controlled, unmanned predator and reaper aircraft, knowing that day or night they can see them and kill them with no chance whatsoever of martydom.

But Obama says we are less safe now and that the "strategy" has failed. Well, I have a question or two about that in light of the foregoing.

How is it less safe for us here to have the principle state sponsor of terror so hemmed in by our forces?

How is it less safe for us here to be developing two free, constitutional republics in the middle east to the chagrin and spite of the totalitarian jihadists there, showing the people of the entire region that there is a hope for freedom?

How it is less safe for us here to have so shut down the terror network that gave us 911 that they have not been able to execute another terror attack on our soil since?

Any objective, common sense look at the geopolitical situation simply punctuates the success of the policy of taking this fight to this enemy...and McCain has improved it, not lessened or weakened it.

If things continue to go well, Obama will simply look more and more foolish in the face of continued success, and, OBTW, that is a success born of volunteers who reapply for service in large percentages who have been there, seen the enemy, defeated him, and know the importance of the mission.

What does “we mean talk” mean, anyway? Is this the English language? Is he attempting to say that we are serious about what we are saying? How can the Iranians be expected to get the message, whatever it is, if we ourselves cannot articulate it?

How can the Iranians be expected to get the message, whatever it is, if we ourselves cannot articulate it? So, he’s going to respond to Iranain aggression with bold rhetoric in the U.N.? That’ll show ‘em. They’ll back down for sure after we rebuke them in the U.N. It ALWAYS works that way! BO has no clue what it means to be responsible for the defense of our nation.

Another attack on the United States from within....”We Mean Talk”. What next, a Black National Anthem? Why not Ebonics as the next foreign language?

Hey Obama, Learn English for “A Change”.

Oh, dear. I entirely missed the Scrappleface byline. How telling that I could take this seriously, because it sounds so much like what I read in the Washington Post, and what the Wash Post writes with a straight face! :)

The fox wears many faces, the hen house. The fox wears many faces, the hen house. Morphing, changing every second. Look beyond the surface, what seems like a sister souljah moment - recent Jesse Jackson incident is a set-up, designed to deflect the many gaffes that the fox/emperor that wears no clothes has said for the day. Look for more of these incidents to appear, as the gaffes are a sure thing to happen./Just Asking - seoul62........

Another helping of carrots. From personal experience: You can't out-haggle a rug dealer." Or as Kipling put it,

"A Fool Lies Here..."

Now it is not good

For the Christian’s health

To hustle the Aryan brown,

For the Christian riles

And the Aryan smiles

And he wearth the Christian down;

And the end of the fight

Is tombstone white

With the name of the late deceased,

And the epitaph drear,

“A fool lies here

Who tried to hustle the East."

— Rudyard Kipling

If this wasn’t so serious it would be laughable. How this guy ever got this position is a clear case of how dumb the US population is. God help us all. Oh and chalk up another of the 10000000000 times its Bushes fault from a liberal scum.

The “price of peace” with people like Ahmedinejad (or his successors) and numerous Middle East Muslim “leaders”, will be nothing less than an open-door policy for Islamification of the US. It’s already bad enough with the overall PC mindset, and with Republicans “in power”....with a President Obama , CAIR will be setting up in the White House, and the slow onslaught of Islam will just be more, uh, “lubricated”.
