I awoke to this news. I am honored to say that Tony was a friend of mine. I met him online in 1992. He was out of work, just leaving as speechwriter for Bush, Sr. He did not know what he was going to do next. That was not a particularly good time for him. But because he was the person he was, good things happened quickly for him. It was impossible not to like him. We stayed friendly all these years. The first time he substituted hosted for Rush Limbaugh, he called me to tell me the good news. and we discussed what he would talk about. He was nervous but excited. After that first radio show, he called me to see how he did. He was the same gentle, kind person in real life as he was on the air.

In 2000, when I was in Washington, D.C. for GWB's inauguration, he invited me up to Fox Studios where he gave me and my friend the grand tour and took us out to lunch. He had my wedding picture in his office. When he told me he had put it there, I didn't believe him. But it was there.

About two months ago we were in touch and he told me he was speaking in Phoenix and maybe I could come down and see him there. For stupid reasons, my husband and I decided not to go. I will always regret that decision. You must visit with the people in your life, you never know what the future will bring.

Rest in peace, my friend. You fought the good fight and you will never be forgotten.

Thank you for posting that writing from Tony Snow. I had not seen it before.

It is probably the best response to cancer, suffering, illness that I have ever read.

Saving it.

May those inspired words make it into a book about Tony Snow’s life which will bless, strengthen, guide many thousands who walk the same path that Tony has now completed.

And we have the “first run” right here. Thanks again.

Thank you, Tony Snow - for allowing your voice and your mind, your words and your life, to speak to clearly about LIFE with a capital L.

You must visit with the people in your life, you never know what the future will bring.

One of the first things that came to my mind upon reading the news was he was far too young. None of us knows how long we have. Make the most of it. Sounds like Tony lived well and full.

What a wonderful story, Hildy.

Captain Ed has some good memories too.

“This weekend will bring many personal tributes, but allow me just a minor example. At the 2004 Republican convention, when I had been blogging for less than a year, I was introduced to Tony almost accidentally. I was shocked when he knew my blog, and maybe even more shocked at how he treated me — as a colleague, an equal in an arena where most of us bloggers felt like Cindarella among ten thousand stepsisters.
He wanted to interview me for his radio show, but he couldn’t work me in. Instead, we chatted off the air for a while, and he impressed me as a man who absolutely loved his work. His joy and his good humor shined through every word, as it did when he worked at the White House, and appeared on television and radio. Viewers and listeners got the authentic Tony Snow; he didn’t build a false persona for public consumption.
When Tony told the world about his illness and took a leave of absence, I sent him an e-mail wishing him well. I was only a little surprised to get a note back from him on his return, thanking me and complimenting me on my work. By that time, I knew what kind of man Tony Snow was, and I hoped his return would mean many years of us enjoying his work as much as he did. Alas, it was not in the cards.
My condolences and prayers go out to Tony’s family and friends. We lost a good man and a class act. Godspeed, Tony.”

I just heard that Tony was born in Ky. but grew up in Cincinnati,Ohio. It makes me proud to know that Tony was from Kentucky as I am and a Big Bengal fan. And that’s not easy to be a Bengal fan,as Tony has said himself.

Wow - that was great...and he picked up the sax at the end. I also see him with the guitar. I didn’t realize he was such a musician!

There are a couple of really nasty comments below that YT video. Amazing how the “progressives” who push their “peace and love” can be so damn hateful.

Roger Ailes on FOX now- saying he’d not been well for quite some time now.

Hi SE Mom. Tony had not really been well since the cancer returned and spread to his liver a little over a year ago. All of us at FR hoped he could beat it again, but in reality, it was a death sentence when the cancer spread. Tony fought the good fight. Now I hope will all my heart that he finds the peace and glory we all yearn for in the next lift.

God bless you, Tony. You go home carried by much love from those you leave behind.

I am heartbroken by the news. I really hoped he was doing better since he had signed on with CNN. My grandmother died of colon cancer, and because of that and Tony’s illness, I didn’t delay a colonoscopy. I just wish Fox would give him the coverage they gave Russert. I’m getting the news about Tony on CNN. RIP, gentle soul. You are loved and will be missed.

“May God rest his soul in peace.

May the Lord be very near to his family.

I am thanking God for Tony’s life.”

What a lovely tribute, Joya. Those were the words I was looking for and I’m going to say them every day. Tony Snow was a Blessing and a gift to all of us, a perfect example of living a life of grace and love. Tony touched millions of people with his joy of life. He was very soft-spoken and modest and epitomized the word class.

Bahbah and saveliberty, I don’t think I thanked you for your pings. I was just so stunned to hear this terrible news. I can’t imagine the agony Tony felt knowing he was leaving his beloved family. We need to cover them all with our prayers.

Tony’s faith was very strong; he accepted his fate. I know our Lord was with Tony and his family as he passed from this life. He left behind many, many broken hearts. We will miss you terribly, dear Snowman.

You know the difference between those who have faith in God,as Tony did, will be welcomed home. For the liberals who worship death, that is what they will receive, their fruits! It is truly a blessing to envision someone being welcomed home with their father in heaven and to receive eternal happiness. For those left behind, while they rejoice that their loved one is now at home with their Lord, their grief must be enormous at losing such a fine man, father, and dear husband. Once on Fox Tony Snow was all dressed up in a tux and everyone was talking about how good he looked but all he could talk about it was how wonderful his wife was and how he had no idea how he could be so lucky to have a woman like her. I never forgot how gracious he was when he was receiving so many compliments and turned it around to compliment his wife.

RIP Tony, condolences to his family.

He was a truly sweet, gentle, man.

My father was given a yr. to live in 1965 when first diagnosed with colon cancer. He, and we, were blessed with 20 more years, until he was 62. He also worked up until 6 months before he died, even with a colostomy for his last two years.

My 77 yr. old mother, who lives with me, will be saddened when she hears about Tony (late sleeper she is).

Thoughts and prayers to Tony’s family and friends.
