A couple of years ago, I made the mistake of using the word “niggardly”, which used to be a perfectly acceptable synonym for being cheap or stingy.

Try using the word “niggardly” in casual conversation at a cocktail party, with or without blacks present, and tell me how it goes.

Price has been a black political leader of Dallas since the 1980s. During that time Dallas went from one of the best run cities in the country to one of the worst, especially in its government law enforcement and infrastructure. He has been instrumental in the decline.

I get confused: “colored” is racist, but “people of color” is acceptable?!

My black son was cofused too when he was in the local school and a kid was castigated in front of the class by the social worker, teacher and principal for calling him “colored.” The PCs didnt stop until the child was crying. My son was confused and told me later that he kept on trying to tell the PCs to stop but they wouldnt listen. We spent a lot of time talking about words.
