Six men remain in the Scott County jail following what police call a brutal assault on a father trying to protect his daughter.
Shakopee police say as the crowd was leaving Valleyfair Amusement Park around midnight on the 4th of July, the victim's daughter was confronted by two men.
"The 12-year-old daughter was either touched or slapped in the buttocks area," Scott County Attorney Patrick Ciliberto said. "The father confronted (the men) by yelling at them for what they had done to his daughter," he added.
Police say the two men called their friends, who were also in the park. The group of seven men and a juvenile then confronted the father.
"They beat him to the ground and then, the evidence that we have, when he was on the ground, they used their feet on him. They were kicking him in the face when he was down," Ciliberto said.
According to the criminal complaints, the men were stomping on the 41-year-old father as he lay on the ground, unconscious.
He suffered severe head injuries, including a fractured right orbital bone and possible subdural bleeding on the brain. "We don't know if there are permanent injuries yet," the County Attorney said.
Shakopee Police found the suspects in the parking lot. Seven of them were arrested and one man ran from the scene and police are still looking for him. Of the seven taken into custody, one was a 14-year-old.
The six adults charged and held in jail are Devondre Evans-Lewis, Andrew Shannon, Darris Evans, Terry Arnold, Derry Evans, and Anthony Gildersleeve.
The Scott County Attorney says several of the men have criminal histories and they are all from the Twin Cities metro area. They range in age from 18 to 22-years-old.
All six adults have been charged with 3rd degree felony assault causing substantial bodily harm.
I can somewhat comment on that. Minnesotans tend to be mild and non-confrontational. If they saw a fight like that, a group of them wouldn’t join in. Hence that’s why you see the Sh!tcago welfare thugs come here and terrorize our cities because they know we won’t fight back.
But still, I think the black community has a specific problem with thugish behavior. In fact the 'thug problem' is worse for those many good black kids than for most white people; they live in the same neighborhoods as these creeps. If they felt OK about beating down a family guy in a very public place like this I shrudder to think what life at the local park or high school is like.
We are frustrated by what we see as a double standard: race is reported and obsessed upon endlessly in white-on-black crime, and hidden when the reverse is the case. We are suspiciious of the rush to enact 'hate crime laws' which seem to only ever be used to charge whites, when according to FBI statistics black-on-white crime is 10x more common then the reverse.
We are appalled by 6 on one beatings, no matter who is handing them out. It is a part of our culture. This is why white people hate and spurn those among our kin who act this way: mostly biker gangs (who we've done a lot to tame and eliminate since their heyday). We consider this a cowardly form of fighting, not suited to real men.
We don't understand or appreciate or condone thug culture. We don't understand why the black community seems to. We don't idealize thugs. "Thug Life" was a top selling rap album. Yes, I'm sure a lot of stupid 14 year old white boys bought it -- but the fact is the culture that created it is black culture. The culture that supports thug life is black culture.
The mothers and fathers who are raising boys who go out and do six-on-one beatings, and beat old people, and slap girls in the ass, and kick people in the head they have knocked our are black moms and black dads.
We don't get it. Don't you teach them the basics of civilization? Do past wrongs committed against your forebearers release you from the common bonds of our civilization?
We are appalled and horrified that this continues, and seems to be getting worse. We don't understand it, and yes, when it happens that a white person is beat down like this we see it as a racial incident.
We have trouble imagining a gang of 'goths or skatepunks' beating down a 45 year old man in this situation.
We still believe in squaring up and fighting fair. That's old fashioned, but it's part of our culture and heritage, and it means something to us. We still believe a fight is over when someone goes 'lights out' or begs for mercy. These are rules we've developed for thousands of years and they are important to us.
We know your culture and your history are different. We'd like to think that over time we're growing together, to a common culture. Hell, we've been here a lot of generations together. We've fought, and bled and cried together. We've made love and have lots of beautiful people amnong us to prove it.
But still, this cultural divide. This unholy acceptance of the most depraved gang thuggery.
It scares us. For ourselves and our kids. For our wives and moms and daughters.
We see this, and we shake our heads in dispair. "How can they think like that?:"

Somehow the answer to this has to start in the black community and not with everyone carrying 16 round Glocks.
Thank you for answering the question. As a side note tho, these types of teenagers are basically cowards and the injection of only one or two additional adults into the foray quite possibly may have prevented the beating.
Nevertheless, I'd rather help one person being attacked by a group of teenage thugs than stand by and watch it happen and have to live with that cowardice for the rest of my life......

This crime had nothing to do with race...
It is true that the perpetrators were black, but that fact did not cause them to commit the crime. They committed the crime because they are animalistic thugs which come in all shades and colors. While it is true that this profile fits a large number of black americans, it is not the rule.
The fact that the victim was white was not a factor. A person challenging such thugs is going to get beat down regardless of color. The amount of black on black crime demonstrates that thugs do not distinguish these things.
Also, just because Jesse Jackson plays racial games does not justify anybody else doing it for the counter scenario. That just makes you as bad as he is. Who cares what Jesse would say if the roles were reversed??? We all agree that it is equally horrendous regardless of race so lets leave it at that. If you play Jesse’s card, you have no right to complain about it when he does it.

An awful lot of the equation is situational awareness and not placing yourself in the situation where such things are likely to occur. One would hope that an amusement park would be such a place, but surveying the crowd can usually give some pretty clear cues as to the lay of the land. Things have changed over the past decade or two. Drastically. Now there are actions and behaviours at the local malls that were unthinkable not so long ago. So if you go, you go early and don’t hang around at closing time. I suspect the same applied at this 4th of July event. After the fireworks are over, the large majority of the crowd heads home. If you are a straggler, you are a target. Packs prey on stragglers. They single out the lone and the weak. If you have your family with you it is all the more reason to move them on out with the majority of the crowd. (Yes, it’s tough with children and women who are generally not attuned to this - protection is not their function in life - I’m talking animal basics here, no flames needed on misogyny, thank you)
Most people in the real world are remarkably oblivious to threats, and even when our instincts tell us, our primal long dormant base instincts, we tend to brush them off and conform. Yes, this guy should have just grabbed his daughter and got the hell out of there, but even for the sake of defending his own, he now lies probably comatose.
And the animals responsible have been set free.
Being possibly brain-damaged for life is far from "fine".
There are still those who believe that there are some things, such as their children's honor and safety, that are more important than their own personal safety.
Just curious, how far should he have let the situation go before he protested? This was already a sexual assault... so should he have said something if they ripped her blouse off? Threw her on the ground? Raped her?
I guess not. I guess he should have looked out for his own welfare and let her handle the problem by herself.
These thugs act this way precisely because no one stands up to them. The feminized American male won't risk their own safety to stand up for a moral wrong, or so these animals believe.

Frankly, it is far more common for a group of blacks to attack a white guy, than for a group of white guys to attack a black. Of course, it is even more common by percentage for blacks to attack blacks.
People aren’t racists for suspecting, without photos, that the perps are black. They are just playing the odds.

Personally, I believe that the black thugs thought they'd slap some white booty and when the father yelled at them they felt they'd been 'dissed' and called their homeys to teach 'whitey' some respect by doing a tap dance on his face.

If this is what you're suggesting, it would also seem you're suggesting the Dad should have known that saying anything to a group of black adults would lead to his attempted murder.

They’re the root of this problem. If it wasn’t for Johnson’s stupid “Great Society”, none of this would have been an issue. In fact, the “Great Society” has ruined more than black people. It’s ruined poor whites, it’s ruined everybody it’s touched.
And instead of playing the blame game, we need to call out everybody and everyone that needs to be called out. The white feel good liberal society, the poverty pimps, and the thugs that mistake our kindness for weakness. Blaming people will do nothing except fan the flames that these hustlers feed off of and gets us race hustlers like Barry Obama vying for the presidency.
