Woman Pays $1,000 to Rescue Lobster

A Canadian woman says she plans to release a giant lobster after she paid $1,000 to rescue the crustacean from a fish market.

Laura-Leah Shaw forked over $1,000 to purchase the 22-pound lobster, dubbed Big Dee-Dee, from the Big Fish seafood market in Shediac, New Brunswick, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Sunday.

The report said two unnamed Ontario groups contributed $1,000 each to rescue the animal, which is thought to be 100 years old.

Big Fish was auctioning Dee Dee off for an opening price of $1,000, the Broadcasting Corp. said.

Denis Breau, owner of the fish market, said at least 1,000 people visited Big Fish to catch a glimpse of Dee Dee, who was caught in the beginning of July.

Shaw said she is preparing to travel to the Maritimes region of eastern Canada Monday to let Dee Dee go into the wild.

Frequently a rescued lobster is tossed into the nearest freshwater creek or stream where it quickly dies.

I walked into my favorite bar.
The barmaid asked me to get her something to eat.
I asked “What”, she said “Oh, a lobster”.
I knew she would have been happy with anything but
I went to a nice restaurant and ordered us both cooked lobsters.
I had them sell me the largest lobster in their tank.
I took the wrappings off its claws and put it on the bar.
The look on her face was priceless.
We named it Pepe and taught it tricks.
You could snap your fingers at it and it would snap its
claws at you.
We left it on the ice in a beer chest and barbecued it
the next day.

Well maybe, maybe not ... she was saving humanity from the dreaded 'green stuff' (tomalley) which apparently kills on contact. Imagine how much green stuff a 22lb lobster has? It's frightening when ya think about it, ehhh ?
