PRINCETON, NJ -- Barack Obama has stretched his lead over John McCain among national registered voters to seven percentage points, 48% to 41%, in Gallup Poll Daily tracking conducted July 23-25.

This represents a continuation of Obama's frontrunner position in Gallup's Friday report, when he led McCain by six points, 47% to 41%. Earlier this week, Obama and McCain were separated by just two to four points, but that was before the extensive U.S. news coverage of the last leg of Obama's foreign tour. a little noticed ‘fact’ which makes this poll only mildly of interest.

Also, after a week or more of glowing coverage he is only getting 5 points and he still can’t get above 50%????? WTF??

What is it going to take to get a majority to support The Obama? Does he need to walk on water or turn water into wine? Heal a leper?

Rasmussen doesn’t fool around. You’re a registered voter or you aren’t.

People don’t like him,

Obama never changes...talks about change 24/7 but never changes even his expression, shows no emotion. When you've heard one teleprompted speech, you've heard them all. (I don't listen to to him.)

He has become boring!!!!!

Obama did look good in Berlin...

He looked “presidential” and spoke well, without teleprompters...

At least I didnt see any...

Some in these threads love Obama’s type....

He’s good looking,

married to only one wife,

has lovely childfren,

dresses well,

looks presidential,

is intelligemt,

very well educated,

has experience in government,

is much younger than McCain,

communicates well with other countries...

Recently moved to towards the right in abortion, 2nd Amendment, capital punishment, WOT, etc

After all, that’s about all some voters say they want...

Oh me, oh my. Whatever will we do?

It would have been a HUGE shock if Obama had not had a bounce after this week. We'll see if it lasts.

My guess is in a week or two we will be right back to where we started.

I don’t think Obama can win the presidency, but I do think McCain can lose it.

The POTUS is elected not by popular vote, but by the several States through Electors.

If someone is ahead in popular vote by more than 5 points, he will win the Electoral college .. guaranteed. Every statistical study has shown this to be the case. Also, if you look at state polls, Obama has over 300 Electoral votes.

Agree that the winner of the popular vote will almost definitely win the EC. Disagree that Obama has over 300 EVs.

I know some projections show he does, but other sources show McCain with leads in places like Ohio, Colorado, Missouri, Florida, and Nevada suggesting the race is actually much, much closer than that.

He had teleprompters. Why do you think his face bounced back & forth like he was watching a ping-pong match? He had two of them, but they were positioned too far to the sides.

Obama did have teleprompters in Berlin. It doesn’t matter what he moved to the right on he is going to get rocked on his uber-liberal past voting record. The electorate is in for a shock - let them swoon over him for a while. Don’t give up.

Y’OK

Obama had teleprompters...

I thought he was just looking from left to right at the crowd...

It looked natural..

He still looked good...

And sounded good...

Hillary would have been easier to beat...

Especially if we had a conservative nominee like Duncan or FRed...

Conservatives would have got behind either of them...

Now have to hope McCain picks a good conservative VP...

A woman in that slot would help...

Or Michael Steele...

Palin or Blackburn have been mentioned...

A weenie of a bounce, considering the media coverage of the event.

Wait until the fact that he skipped visiting the troops sinks in, along with the mainstream media suddenly declaring victory in Iraq.

He’s also totally locked himself into not letting us drill for our own oil.

Not smart for a messiah.

Sorry you are wrong. He doesn't look or sound that good to me, he looks phony and sounds phony, and he lies constantly. Also, he made no move to the right. He gave lip service to some things but didn't change his stance at all. The average person knows this and he will lose in Nov, and lose big.

Statistical studies are wrong many times. As far as electoral votes Obama has exactly the same as McCain, or Hillary for that matter, and that number is zero. You can't get electoral votes through a poll, not even the great Obamabullsh**er can do that. +

The money advantage for OBama is a real problem. Hillary beat him in the large and later primaries by attacking his weaknesses which are many and shouting his non stop gaffes the media including Drudge Report try to bury . McCain's team is starting the attack now and needs to do the job of the media by spreading the word on his non stop stupid and uninformed comments.

Some bump after his whirlwind tour. If the poll means anything at all, it’s more bad news for Obama than McCain.

Just standing there for photo-ops with other leaders, even Dennis Kucinich could look “presidential.” And presidential speeches with no president is like a honeymoon with no consummation.

If it was so darned historically important, I wish they’d run his effectual Berlin speech on TV 24/7 non-stop for the rest of the election. It’s already a few replays away from mass boredom.
