If you read the passages you posted you will see that it is NOT referring to his ‘tail’ but to another appendage.

ME: Why do you use a quote from a creationist website instead of the REAL words of the Bible?

YOU: What are you talking about? I cut & pasted Job 40:15-19 out of the NASB word for word.

Please show me where the following is quoted from a bible. Your long list does not include it.

“All with tails like a cedar?”

When I read the passages, all of the English ones specifically use the word "tail".

The Hebrew word which was translated as "tail" is זנב (zânâb ).

Strong's dictionary says: the tail (literally or figuratively): - tail.

Brown-Driver-Briggs’ Hebrew Definitions says: tail, end, stump

If you're seeing a reference a specific appendage other than a tail that might belong to a hippo, elephant or rhino, it's because you want it to be that appendage. Shame on you. ;-)

Every passage you quoted refers to the non-tail appendage. Open your eyes.

Here’s the plan:

Fashion our economy such that you must have some sort of accreditation from an “approved” institution, preferably government sponsored, in order to earn a living.

Then, disallow entry into these institutions if you don’t have the “proper” (gov’t approved) training.

Consistently change those requirements until any sort of religious training or belief disqualifies entry,

“so that no one may buy or sell unless he has the mark”
Rev 13:17

Try to follow me here. It shouldn’t be too difficult.

I posted Job 40:15-19 (NASB)

Job 40:17a (NASB) says: “He bends his tail like a cedar”.

YOU: “Elephant, Rhino, Hippo?”

ME: “All with tails like a cedar?”

YOU: “Why do you use a quote from a creationist website instead of the REAL words of the Bible?”

ME: “What are you talking about?”

YOU: “If you read the passages you posted you will see that it is NOT referring to his ‘tail’ but to another appendage.”

ME: Still wondering what you’re talking about, but now affraid to ask.

Every passage you quoted refers to the non-tail appendage. Open your eyes.

I've quoted several translations of scripture, two well respected biblical dictionaries and none of them refer to any appenage other than the tail.

You've posted nothing of any substance supporting a claim that זנב refers to any other appendage. If you have one please post it and don't run to any of your "evolutionism" websites. Let's see a dictionary definition that supports your claim.

Read the passages. 16 is referring to his loins, 17 is referring to his loins. The meaning of ‘tail’ is obvious.

15 “Look at the behemoth, [a]
which I made along with you
and which feeds on grass like an ox.

16 What strength he has in his loins,
what power in the muscles of his belly!

17 His tail [b] sways like a cedar;
the sinews of his thighs are close-knit.

What are you talking about?

This is what you are guilty of ...

------------------------------------------------

Movements, Not Size

Behemoth, in the passage, is said to have strength in his hips and powerful muscles in his belly. However, the next verse after that is an unwitting victim of deliberate verse and quote mining. What do I mean on that? It means the creationists have misquoted the verse on purpose. They took the verse out of context and distorted it to make it to be exactly what they themselves wanted it to say instead of the other way around.

The verse in full context says,

“He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.”

But creationists took that verse and distorted it to make the verse erroneously say,

“His tail is like a cedar: the sinew of his stones are wrapped together.”

In their reasoning, as illustrated in it many of their literature including Duane Gish’s book Dinosaurs by Design, means that the tail of Behemoth were as big and thick as a cedar tree in comparison to the tails of the hippo and the elephant that are very small. Thus, confirming the notion of Behemoth being a sauropod dinosaur because unlike the tail of an elephant and the hippo, sauropod dinosaurs has huge, long, thick, chunky tails that can easily be compared to a cedar tree.

Even Allan K. Steel, on this page from Ham’s infamous site make claims of this falsehood by giving out what he claims to be technical explanations of what he claims Behemoth was really by giving out a whole list of the same verse he misquote in purpose coming from different versions of the English Bible and concludes that the tail of Behemoth is a lot like a cedar tree. Thus, Behemoth, according to Steel, is indeed a dinosaur because its tail is exactly like a cedar tree.

This is flat out false. The verse in full context does not say “His tail is like a cedar.” The verse actually says, “He moveth his tail like a cedar..” which means that there is absolutely nothing in the verse that says anything about the size of the tail. Instead, it only has everything to do with the tail’s movements and nothing else.

The meaning of ‘tail’ is obvious.

Just because he was talking about his loins in v16 doesn't mean he was still talking about it in v17. Is he still on the loins in v18? Your argument doesn't stand. If you want to interpret the word based on context, look at the context of the word as it is used in other places in the OT.

The Strong's number for the word translated as "tail" is H2180. It occurs in 9 other verses in the old testament and is always translated as "tail". Why don't you take your favorite appendage and insert it in place of the word "tail" in these verses and see if it makes any sense.
But the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand and grasp it by its tail"--so he stretched out his hand and caught it, and it became a staff in his hand-- - Exodus 4:4

The LORD will make you the head and not the tail, and you only will be above, and you will not be underneath, if you listen to the commandments of the LORD your God, which I charge you today, to observe them carefully, - Deuteronomy 28:13

He shall lend to you, but you will not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you will be the tail. - Deuteronomy 28:44

Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took torches, and turned the foxes tail to tail and put one torch in the middle between two tails. - Judges 15:4

"He bends his tail like a cedar; The sinews of his thighs are knit together. - Job 40:17

and say to him, 'Take care and be calm, have no fear and do not be fainthearted because of these two stubs of smoldering firebrands, on account of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and the son of Remaliah. - Isaiah 7:4

So the LORD cuts off head and tail from Israel, Both palm branch and bulrush in a single day. - Isaiah 9:14

The head is the elder and honorable man, And the prophet who teaches falsehood is the tail. - Isaiah 9:15

There will be no work for Egypt Which its head or tail, its palm branch or bulrush, may do. - Isaiah 19:15
The meaning of the word is obvious. It means "tail".

“But the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand and grasp it by its tail”—so he stretched out his hand and caught it, and it became a staff in his hand— - Exodus 4:4 “

Wow! It became a staff (stiff?) in his hand! Of course that is referring to a tail and not that other appendage!

Perhaps you could enlighten us on how an elephant, hippo, or rhino could move their tails like a cedar.

Agreed. We briefly looked at UC schools for our daughter but were taken aback by the aggressive promotion of the "Condom Olympics" as part of the new student orientation week - presented with the assumption that we parents would view it as a good thing.

It came down to what I told my wife: "I just have a hard time giving my money to an organization that seems dedicated to subvert and/or ridicule most things I believe.

Our daughter begins her freshman year later this month at a well-regarded Christian University in Oregon.

Which dinosaur had a navel?

Wow. Now that is an excellent question.

The Hebrew word is שׁריר (shârîyr). Strong's number H8306.

Strong's dictionary says: a cord, that is, (by analogy) sinew: - navel.

BDB's dictionary says: sinew, muscle

the Theological WordBook of the Old Testament says: sinew, muscle as well.

It only shows up this one time in the entire OT. I don't think it has to be translated as "navel" and can be translated as "muscle" just as well, which is what the NASB says. We have no other biblical occurrences to refer to. To say that his power is in the muscles of his belly makes perfect sense. How much strength do you have in your navel?

I completely agree.

Charles Murray has an essay in the August 13th Wall Street Journal: “”For Most People, College Is a Waste of Time.” If you haven't read it, I think you would enjoy it.

I think the UC action reflects a broader problem. The decision of UC was a deliberate poke in the eye of these Christians. I expect more of this as the Secular Humanists gain power in our government bureaucracies, and every area of our culture.

This UC action and the judge's decision should be the canary in mine dropping dead. Unfortunately Christians in the U.S. seem to be dumber than sheep.

Sure. It can move if chopped down. So, the Bible is referring to his tail being chopped down?
