Obama to McCain - Don't challenge my patriotism
North Denver News ^ | August 19, 2008 | VOA

Posted on 08/19/2008 4:52:10 PM PDT by Baladas

Days before Denver's Democratic Convention, Barrack Obama is standing tall and striking back.

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama Tuesday urged his Republican opponent, Senator John McCain, to stop questioning his character and patriotism. Obama spoke to the same veterans group in Florida that McCain addressed the day before when he accused Obama of putting his political ambitions ahead of U.S. national interests. VOA National correspondent Jim Malone has the latest on the presidential campaign from Washington.

Senator Obama told the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in Orlando, Florida, that Afghanistan remains the central front in the war on terrorism, and that he was right to oppose the war in Iraq from the start.

Obama also challenged Senator McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, to refrain from further attacks on his patriotism.

"I have never suggested and never will that Senator McCain picks his positions on national security based on politics and personal ambition," Obama said. "I have not suggested it because I believe he genuinely wants to serve America's national interests. Now it is time for him to acknowledge that I want to do the same. Let me be clear-I will let no one question my love of this country. I love America, so do you, and so does John McCain."

I challenge his patriotism to anyone I meet who’s pro-Obama. He’s a socialist, fascist, marxist, black military who hates the very principles that America was founded on.

Bingo.

This is another “racist” canard.

Barry is complaining about punches that have not been thrown.

Lies Marxist Obama...

Now it is time for him [John McCain] to acknowledge that I want to do the same. Let me be clear-I will let no one question my love of this country. I love America...

Well, let's just define some terms, shall we Mister Obama?

I'll define patriotism and love of America as...

- - deep regard for our freedom and the ability to live with minimum government rule,

- - the deep appreciation of those who served to defend America. Putting the military's success before one's political fortunes. Visiting wounded service persons rather than going to the gym.

- - a total (and non-bitter) belief in our customs, our culture, and our way of life

- - a long and well-documented support for this country. This means no potty-mouthing America when in Germany, no telling little kids that "America is no longer what it once was", no arrogant, royalist, condescending denigration of Americans who happen to own firearms or practice (non-America-hating) religion

- - a long and documented personal history of supporting our republican representative democracy over socialism, Marxism, and globalism. No close and/or friendly associations with domestic terrorists, crime figures, drug dealers, and left wing radicals.

- - an appreciation of the uniqueness of the American experience (and a knowledge that we have fifty (50) states, not "57".

- - standing with hand over heart for the national anthem. Getting a feeling of misty pride when members of our military parade, escort the flag, and play the national anthem, fly over in tribute. Wearing an American Flag pin without being told to by your handlers and pollsters.

Accordingly, Obama old chum...

You are not patriotic.

Not in the least.

What the heck? I mean really, what heck? Here's what he'll be saying next:

It's not McCain's job to shower compliments on you Obie. Grow a spine you wuss.

And why not? It’s not like McCain is the only person who’s wondering.

Besides being half black, this man’s basic value was he was against the war in Iraq. So much so, he claimed he would bring the military home in 2009 after he took office.

He has shamelessly, like others in this party, run against the war as a political option even though we are in the midst of that war.

“Where does he think he gets off telling John McCain what to do?”

There’s that edict side of his personality again. The voters are getting pretty tired of hearing his ordering people about.

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama Tuesday urged his Republican opponent, Senator John McCain, to stop questioning his character and patriotism

Might have a point. How can we question what he does not have?

Come to think of it maybe he's actually stating that Obama has neither to begin with.
