American Issues Project Legal Response to Obama Complaint to DOJ about AIP Obama-Ayers Ad
American Issues Project ^ | August 26, 2008 | American Issues Project

The Obama for President campaign has already begun complaining about our ad that connects Obama with domestic terrorist William Ayers. It seems they are intent to use the Federal Government to suppress political speech they disagree with. So they filed a complaint with the Department of Justice. Not showing the clip as a paid ad, or not showing it as a news item, or not showing it as political commentary. Do you know which it is??

If they ban Hannity from showing it, he will have none of it!!

Its illegal to inform the tv stations that you are complying with the law? Perhaps that is intimidating to criminals.

No, no. The reference was to the intimidation inside the quote, as in:

"This letter will be distributed to all the TV stations Obama tried to intimidate."

This intimidation.

They just said that Fox has decided to not show the video.

No reason given from what I had heard

Obama alleged that AIP wasn't a legally incorporated organization, and that running ads produced by them would be in violation of Federal election laws.

Which would open those stations up to lawsuits by team Obama.

It's all a bunch of crock. AIP seems to have complied with all laws governing its incorporation and operations.

Threatening to file suit is not illegal intimidation, but unless you have the goods, its pretty stupid.

They don't have the goods and they look plenty stupid.

Sure its intimidation but its not illegal. Using the governments power to do it is illegal.

Does anyone have that link to Obama’s response ad? I remember seeing it yesterday, but can’t seem to find the right thread... Thanks in advance! :)
