Additionally, this will backfire on the libs with the swing voters if they push it too hard.

I noticed the media is even sympathetic to Bristol. They are reported this but kind of apologetically. And the nasty rumors of the left wing are being brought out of the dungeons for all to see.

Big deal. One of my daughters got pregnant when she was 17.

Are you running for the vice presidency?

For the Palins however, and Gov. Palin in particular, they’ve said all they need to on the topic

I completely agree. It's the MSM et al that gives me pause.

I don’t think many 18 year old guys are putting up on their facebook page that they want children. So, I would find it normal for him to say something along those lines. (although at this point, he may want to update it). But, I’ll have to read it for myself to see what you mean.

As most of us know, there is something about holding your sweet baby in your arms that can sweep even a 18 year old boy off his feet. I believe things will fall into place. There is a solid foundation underneith of them, they know what to do. Just pray for these two kids, they’ll need some prayers. Also, Maybe that’s why she hasn’t married him yet.

I think it is really kind to read how you think and feel about the Palin family. I will join you in prayer.

The headline is wrong. She did not “admit” anything.

Admission infers that something was intentionally hidden. She announced, not admitted.

She did not mention it before because it is none of yours or my damn business.

People like the Palins don’t just pass off their flesh and blood for someone else to raise for the convenience of the mother or family. They take care of their own. The Palins are like people in flyover country. Fiercely independent and decent.

She met him in college so she was at least 18. Hussein claims he was concieved in Alabama durring a civil rights march. I guess that was as close as he could get to staking a claim on the civil rights movement.

After reading so many of these posts, I just thought of something. I wonder how many presidential or VP sons have gotten girls pregnant without nary a glance from the public.

The best thing is that this sucks the oxygen out of any discussion of Obama/Biden during the Repub Convention. Now, EVERYONE will be hearing the Palin speech tomorrow night.

This morning radio news in Cincinnati included some comment by some newscaster (a left-winger) that said: Daughter’s pregnant, husband’s DUI, and fired the guy who didn’t fire her sister’s abusive husband. That was it.

Three issues:

1. Daughter’s pregnant: Personal business, but the truth is that the young woman is 17 years old.

2. Husband’s DUI: Happened when he was 22 Years Old, and He isn’t running for office. That was some 25 years ago. Honestly, we’ve all been there in some form or fashion. We all know we just didn’t get caught.

3. Fired Civil Servant: the non-firing happened BEFORE Palin became Governor. The guy was part of those let go from Alaska government with all of those other folks that new leaders get rid of when they take over their office.

While Obama forbade anyone from his campaign from attacking family, the media is carrying his water for him. That is as always.

McCain’s task is to overcome it. Since this is so all-American, since the media is so hated in America, I can only think that this will backfire to Palin’s benefit.

The media ignores Clinton’s lust, Biden’s plagiarism, and Obama’s anarchist friends, but a young girl not running for anything is fair game.

I despise them.

Mr./Ms. Faluda,

I believe that conservatives would be happy to stop insisting on abstinence education if liberals stopped insisting that public school is the proper venue for sex education; to leave people to whatever contracts they choose to enter among themselves if liberals stopped insisting that everyone else invest them, under pain of law, with the significance of marriage, etc.

Abortion is different because it involves an innocent life, but it was not conservatives who circumvented the legislative process to impose our current abortion framework. Who insists on federal funding for abortion? Aren't they making abortion an issue? Or, is it only conservatives who make it an issue by opposing government involvement?

I am sorry you were called a troll when you introduced yourself so nicely. Also, please don't use the words "republican" (your party) and "conservative" interchangeably. They are not equivalent.

They also ignore Obama’s drug use, which included cocaine. I have never heard anyone from the media even raise the subject with him, let alone get into the details,e.g., when did you stop using drugs?

That would be a good idea if you want John McCain to lose. Flaunting an unwed teenage mother is not a way to win conservative votes. Plus what a strain on this irresponsible girl who is too young to be either a competent mother or able to handle the strain of a rough presidential campaign.

Any word on the proud papa? One FR thread shows a 16 year old black dude. On another site a Levi Johnston, 18, was mentioned. He is listed on MySpace. I don't visit that site.

McCain should have let it be known that the daughter was pregnant...l or 2 weeks before deciding on a VP. That would have given time for a proper spin attempt.

I find it difficult to believe that you could believe that. Supposing McCain announced 2 weeks in advance he was considering senator X, but was concerned about Senator X's daughter's pregnancy. Don't you think the media feeding frenzy would sink Senator X as a candidate? Also the whole point of the nomination process is to consider all candidates privately before deciding on the best one, not to allow the media to decide for him.

If you feel so personally affronted that McCain didn't tell you about this issue, then don't support him any further and don't complain. Because all you do by complaining is sow discord and division. It's time to support our candidate or make a case for an alternative if you feel that strongly.

First of all the term “knocked up” is so disrespectful. Sarah Palin says Bristol and the boy are in love and want to get married. I’m sure Sarah and Todd wouldn’t have forced the boy to marry their daughter if he didn’t want to. They have more respect for her than that. And Bristol wouldn’t marry someone she didn’t want to. She has more respect for herself than that. How do I know this? Because I know people like them. They are down to earth and have pride and decency.
