MSNBC TAKES INCENDIARY HOSTS FROM ANCHOR SEAT... DEVELOPING...
Drudge ^

Posted on 09/07/2008 6:33:59 PM PDT by flyfree

MSNBC tried a bold experiment this year by putting two politically incendiary hosts, Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews, in the anchor chair to lead the cable news channel’s coverage of the election.

That experiment appears to be over.

After months of accusations of political bias and simmering animosity between MSNBC and its parent network NBC, the channel decided over the weekend that the NBC News correspondent and MSNBC host David Gregory would anchor news coverage of the coming debates and election night. Mr. Olbermann and Mr. Matthews will remain as analysts during the coverage.

The change — which comes in the home stretch of the long election cycle — is a direct result of tensions associated with the channel’s perceived shift to the political left.

“The most disappointing shift is to see the partisan attitude move from prime time into what’s supposed to be straight news programming,” said Davidson Goldin, formerly the editorial director of MSNBC and a co-founder of the reputation management firm DolceGoldin.

I'm sure Matthews and Olbermann are depressed, but I'm clapping...

I just surfed over to DU. They're going ape-sh__ over this and the new Gallup poll. They got a bunch of conspiracy fans over there (and they don't have rule about "no profanity....good thing, too; otherwise, they'd lose one of the 5 words in their vocabulary. :>)

I'd love for them to have a debate panel of Matthews, Helen Thomas, and Olbermann. It'd be fun to hear the questions, especially those to Palin.

'Olberfuhrer and Der Tingler have been Palinized!"

Make that Electo-palinization.

I like taking a peek at Olbermann once and a while because I am hoping he will explode. Gregory, though, all I want to do is punch his lights out.

I can picture Matthews at home crying, but conservatives have good reason to be happy about this...

DU is already calling for a boycott of David Gregory. Looks like he’s the real “monkey-in-the-middle”.

Actually, that would be Anderson Cooper...

I'm betting Olbermann pulls a "Scanners" election night. If you Tivo it, you can play the tape backwards and make his head re-appear out of thin air. It'll be fun!

I suppose Olberman now has his head buried in his pillow and will not come out of his room.

One time I saw Matthews speak to a group of teenagers on C-Span, and he was actually nasty to them when he answered their questions. He’s not a good guy. If something happens to him, the world won’t be praising him the way they did for Tim Russert.

But as the past two weeks have shown, that success has a downside. When the vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin lamented media bias during her speech, attendees of the Republican convention loudly chanted “NBC.”

Laura Ingraham claimed to have started that chant.

It will be interesting to see how Keith reacts to this. The humiliation might spark him even more.

Gregory is not much better than those two shills.

Gregory can be an ass sometimes but he's been a raging conservative compared to Olbermann/Matthews lately. He even went out of his way to talk up the Palin phenomenon when the others were mocking her.
