Why I'm reversing course on John McCain
Vanity | Sept 9, 2008 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 09/08/2008 12:55:29 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Governor Sarah Palin! Or, actually, what she signifies.

We've often stated on FR that if the Republicans would only run true conservatives then we'd win more elections. We'd keep the White House, build conservative majorities in congress, replace liberal activist judges with original intent constitutionalists, and eventually overturn Roe v Wade and begin rolling back some of the damage inflicted upon our beloved republic by the socialists and liberals.

John McCain's bold choice of the unabashed pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-liberty, small government, strong defense, fiscal conservative, Sarah Palin, signifies a return to conservatism within the Republican Party.

And the fact that Republicans and conservatives of every stripe, including the Christian right are flocking to her side and that the conservative grassroots has been re-energized literally overnight is proof that when offered the choice of truly conservative candidates, conservatives and Republicans will react accordingly.

Even though I've stated in the past that I would not vote for McCain, I will be supporting this ticket. Governor Palin is a God-fearing, kick butt conservative and I'd much rather have her advising and standing in the wings for the presidency than Joe Biden. I'll definitely pull the lever for her. And I'll do all I possibly can to keep the America-hating Marxist Barack Hussein Obama out of the White House.

Do it for Life. Do it for Liberty. Do it for our troops. Do it for America!

Glad to see it, JimRob.

I've maintained throughout the primaries that even though McCain has been bad on some issues, he's been strong on a lot of the bread and butter: guns, life, and the military.

He may do some horrendous liberal things, but he may also do some very good things and he will defend America and the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

And, of course: PALIN!

I have forgotten nothing. However, the choices are bleak. Allow Obama into the White House with a leftist congress and guess what happens to the USA? Guess what happens to the world?

Do you think Obama will stand up to the Islamic terrorists? Do you think he will object to Russia’s tanks rolling over its former satellite countries? Will he prevent Russia from moving into South America? Will he do anything when communist China makes its moves? Or Iran makes its moves on Israel? No. He’ll be too busy destroying our nukes, dismantling our defenses, scrapping our navy, and decimating our armies.

He and the godless socialist congress will be busy murdering babies, destroying our family structure, destroying our religious freedoms and our society. They’ll destroy the economy by raising taxes, seizing the profits of “greedy” corporations, signing global warming treaties, choking off our manufacturing industries, nationalizing healthcare, and destroying our oil, gas, coal and energy industries. They’ll be busy erasing our borders and destroying our national sovereignty while setting up global courts, global governments, global armies. And levying taxes on us to support it all.

The parts of their Marxist agenda they can’t enact through legislation, they’ll simply enact through executive fiat or through liberal judicial activism. And you can bet that the courts will be packed with liberal activist judges. Allow Obama and his Marxist comrades to control all three branches of our government and you can kiss our constitution and our republic goodbye.

No thanks. I’ll be supporting and voting for McCain-Palin. For America and against Marxism!!

Saw them at a rally here in Albuquerque. The crowd was REALLY into them, especially her.

Gotta wonder how McCain feels. On one hand, he stands a better chance of winning with her on the ticket. On the other, there are a large number of people who would prefer a Palin/McCain team...

I don’t think that bothers McCain. He’s not the egomaniac in the race. We all know who that is.

I'm wildy speculating but I'm thinking that McCain wanted to make it to the Presidency not just to do a job, but to put his family (two admirals (F/GF) into the presidential families and into history. I think after one term he might retire and hand the reigns of the GOP over to Palin.

Thanks for the additional comments Jim. I understand why you and others have made this choice. I am by no means convinced that a McCain/Palin victory will prevent serious damage to this nation. Despite that, here’s to the idea that it will accomplish all that you hope it will, and that I am the one who is wrong. You take care.

Hey Jim...great to see you back and posting!

Truth be told, I don't think we are so much reversing course on McCain as he has reversed his course in favor of our direction...

We didn't come back to the Republican party...it's coming back to us!

Excellent!

Have you heard anything of the “rumor” that BHO may have been born in Kenya? It seems he has an “honorary” birth certificate from that country, and his mother was there during the time frame that would be the end of her pregnancy.

We know he’s fluent in Arabic because of his six years of schooling in Indonesia in the Hadrassa, so I’m just trying to put things together.

As far as Biden is concerned: He’s a non-issue.

Whenever I see a comparison of McCain and Obama (and there have been FAR too many, lately!) I'm reminded of the saying: Be careful who you vote for ~ you just might get them.

I really prefer that my great grandchildren for many generations are never under a yoke of opression, but that is where Obama would take this country in a heartbeat.

That was a truly affecting and emotional end to John McCain’s speech at the convention. As he continued to speak, the crowd cheered louder and louder. I thought the roof was gonna come off the place!

I’m in too. I have been, but not enthusiastically, until Gov. Palin. In fact, I have warmed up to McCain a bit anyway. I may not like all of his policies, but he is a good man. Plus, consider the alternative!

Yes, we’re all on board with ya Jim. And, like David said:

TOWARD VICTORY!!
