Obama "Old Man" Ad Attacks McCain's War Disabilities
NRO - The Corner ^ | 12 September 2008 | Jonah Goldberg

Posted on 09/12/2008 4:01:22 PM PDT by PhatHead

The Obama campaign is mocking John McCain for not using a computer. From the AP story about the computer illiterate ad:

"Our economy wouldn't survive without the Internet, and cyber-security continues to represent one our most serious national security threats," [Obama spokesman Dan] Pfeiffer said. "It's extraordinary that someone who wants to be our president and our commander in chief doesn't know how to send an e-mail."
Well, I guess it depends on what you mean by "extraordinary." The reason he doesn't send email is that he can't use a keyboard because of the relentless beatings he received from the Viet Cong. From the Boston Globe (March 4, 2000):
McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain's encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He's an avid fan - Ted Williams is his hero - but he can't raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.
In a similar vein I guess it's an outrage that the blind governor of New York David Patterson doesn't know how to drive a car. After all, transportation issues are pretty important. How dare he serve as governor while being ignorant of what it's like to navigate New York's highways.

Between this and Palin, I’d say the Democrats just lost the handicapped vote.

True but he has really solidified the "raving ding-dong" vote. On the other hand, that *is* his base...

It is called a secretary. Something that comes with the office for free.

Well that's great. It's nice to know someone gives up their time makes no income to help him out :>}

It's pretty clear exactly where Obama is going:

"Although it has been suggested that the strongly hierarchical and anti-individualistic "bugs" in Starship Troopers were meant to represent the Chinese or Japanese, Heinlein wrote the book in response to calls for the unilateral ending of nuclear testing by the U.S., so it is more likely that they were intended to represent communism. Indeed, Heinlein suggests in the book that the bugs are a good example of communism being something that humans cannot adhere successfully to, since humans are of individual minds, whereas the bugs, being a collective, can all contribute to the whole without consideration of individual desire. The slugs in The Puppet Masters are likewise explicitly and repeatedly identified as metaphors for communism."

Did Robert Heinlein anticipate the Internet, or Obama?  Regardless, the internet is clearly seen by collectivists as one of the means by which the individual will be subjugated by the collective, Fascist, hive.

Yes, fascist.   When the organizational structure becomes the object of worship and servitude - that is the classic definition of Fascism.

1.  Though shall have no other gods before Me.

Technology is a tool to be used - not a god to be worshipped.

How in the hell does this commercial slip past Joe Biden who's had to have known for 30+ years that his fellow US Senator John McCain has physical limitations caused by his brutal interrogation at the hands of his North Vietnamese captors?

Unlike the Dems/Liberals who use their weaknesses/injuries/disabilities as a path to true victimhood, Senator McCain kept the extent of injuries to himself. He apparently did/nor does not want, pity, or extra, visible measures on his behalf.

I did not know until these last two weeks the extent of Mr. McCain's injuries, nor did I know that he was a fine person. I had swallowed the MSM line about Mr. McCain's DISqualifications for CIC of the USA.

Yeah, I think Obama's campaign is not asking Joe anything...to their detriment and our good.

Hehe - that's going to be trouble. Hey, maybe after he and Hussein lose their jobs they can get a gig organizing someone's community.

McCain was subject to the Vietnamese "Rope Torture" on many occasions. His room mate for a time at the Hanoi Hilton, Col "Bud" Day (Medal of Honor recepient), was subject to this torture and to this day cannot totally function either because of his injuries.

____________________________________________________________________

From McCain's own account:

They later said that their first impression of me, emaciated, bug-eyed and bright with fever, was of a man at the threshold of death. They thought the Vietnamese expected me to die, and had placed me in their care to escape the blame when I failed to recover. Bud had been seriously injured when he ejected. After he was captured, he had attempted an escape and had nearly reached an American airfield when he was recaptured. His captors had looped rope around his shoulders, tightened it until his shoulders were nearly touching, and then hung him by the arms from the rafter of the torture room, tearing his shoulders apart. Left in this condition for hours, Bud never acceded to Vietnamese-demands for military information. They had to break his already broken right arm a second time, and threaten to break the other before Bud gave them anything at all. Because of his injuries, Bud was unable to help with my physical care. Norris, a gentle, uncomplaining guy, cleaned me up, fed me, helped me onto the bucket that served as our toilet and massaged my leg.

This method of torture is still common in Asia. It is used in China, Vietnam, and other nations to this day.

Obama, you want to make fun of John McCain because he cannot used a keyboard?

You are nothing but a cowardly, tissue paper resume little jerk.

What a horrible thing to go through and Obama is making fun of John McCain’s inability to use a keyboard.

Thank you for the details of what an American Hero suffered through in Vietnam.

Hussein Obama is an a$$ and should be kicked out of the Senate after he endorsed this ad.

For an encore, Obama may want to consider putting kittens in the microwave. He is a disgusting person.

Uh, Does she goto work with him too at the Capitol Building? I doubt it. Whether or not he wants to use a computer is HIS choice. HOWEVER his injury as such does not make it impossible for him John McCain to use a computer by himself which Obama said he could not do.

The MSM isn’t going to “rake Obama over the coals”. Never!

It’s up to us....and maybe Fox News.

McCain probably won’d make the response personally, as he
is fairly modest when it comes to his incarceration and
war injuries....but his ALLIES/SUPPORTERS need to make sure this is
out there!

Just like we are here!

I’m sure others have already done it, but I just sent the
link to this article to Sean Hannity. Maybe he’ll have
something to say about it next time he has a show.
